“Even though you both are adults?” I shrug.

“Honestly, I don’t know. I just don’t want him to get fired because of me. So, we are just secretly dating for now.”

“Holy shit!” Izzy and I both give Ilene a look to quiet down because people are looking at us.

“I’m sorry, but you are fucking your teacher that you’ve been dreaming about for years. This is some romance book stuff.” I laugh thinking about the book I’ve already written about us.

“Sounds like Baltimore is turning out to be the best decision of your life.” I smile at Izzy and nod.

We finish our dinner and all head back home to get rest since the wine tour is literally all day tomorrow. As I slide into the bed at Izzy’s, I can’t fight the longing feeling I have for my place in Baltimore. When I was living here for those few months, I felt right at home, but now my apartment at Baltimore is my home. It’s like everything there is better, besides not being around my friends. Thankfully, no matter how far away we are from each other, we always will remain close. As I’m about to roll over and go to sleep, my phone buzzes.

I grab it off the nightstand and swipe my finger to see who it was. I’m in shock to see Andrew’s name on my screen. I open the text message and don’t know what to think after reading it.

“Hey, I know its late, just wanted to say sorry for earlier. I know it was awkward, I really didn’t know that you would be at your

parents’ place. Anyways, I just wanted to apologize. Goodnight and sorry for texting you so late.”

This man has barely texted me since the divorce and now he is apologizing for something so little.Your mom was right.I sigh at the thought of Andrew still wanting to work on us. He is with Jasmine and I’m with Dexter, so that is not even in the cards.

“It’s okay, we are going to run into each other Andrew. No need to apologize. Goodnight.”

I set my phone back down and try to fall asleep, but my phone vibrates again. I grab it fully expecting it to be another message from Andrew, but it’s from Dexter.

“Not sure if you’re already asleep, but I just wanted to say goodnight beautiful.” I smile and text him back.

“Still awake unfortunately ?”

“Why the sad face?” I wish he was here; I would be asleep in minutes.

“Just have to get up early for the wine tour tomorrow.”

“Oh, so you girls are getting tipsy tomorrow?” I laugh.

“All day and probably all weekend long. Especially if Ilene got the stripper.” I hit send and instantly regret saying the last part. I put my hand on my face and drag it down with a sigh.

“Sounds like you’re going to have an interesting weekend. Now get some sleep, I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”

“Can’t wait, Goodnight Dex.”

Somehow, I wake up before my alarm goes off and I hop in the shower. I finish getting dressed for the day and make myself a cup of coffee and make my way upstairs when I hear footsteps in the kitchen. I fully expect it to be Izzy but when I turn the corner its Jeremy getting ready to leave for work.

“Good morning, I wasn’t expecting you to be up so early.” I laugh.

“Me neither to be honest. Is Izzy still sleeping?”

He smiles and nods as he twists the top on his coffee mug. Seeing him in his police uniform gets me every time. I’ve known him from the beginning of his and Isabelle’s relationship and it’s still hard to wrap my head around him being a cop.

“How’s it feel being back?” I breath out and raise the corner of my mouth.

“It’s nice to see everyone I love here, but I miss the life I’m building in Baltimore.” He smiles at my answer.

“I’m happy for you Allison and I know Izzy is too. You deserve to be happy!”

I blink a few times and swallow to try to contain my emotions. Jeremy and Andrew got close throughout our relationship, and I know they still talk, but it’s nice to know that he supports me through everything that has happened. I don’t hold it against him to still be friends with Andrew, everyone makes mistakes, I just wish he learned from it the first time. As I’m getting lost in my thoughts one thing crosses my mind and my whole body gets goosebumps just thinking about it.

“Jeremy, did you invite Andrew to the wedding?” I see him look up from his coffee mug before looking me straight in the face. I know he is trying to gauge my body language before answering me. He clears his throat.

“My cousin said he couldn’t make it last week and I couldn’t think of anyone else to ask. He is in my wedding party now. I was going to ask you first, but my mother already made the arrangements, and I figured you would understand since Izzy said you were bringing a date.”
