“You showed up out of nowhere to the palace. You said so yourself that you didn’t know what happened. And you’re assigned to the prince. You do the math.” Again she shrugged.

This time Lizette smacked at Nicole’s hand from across the table and her fork fell to her plate.

My jaw dropped and I stared at the quiet feeder, who went back to comforting Brigette.

Nicole looked as though she was struggling to hold herself back and her lip curled as she spoke to Lizette. “What on earth do you think you're doing?”

“Stop acting like this is okay. Or normal. It’s not,” Lizette said as she rubbed Brigette’s shoulders. “They’re interrogating everyone until they have something worth knowing. All of us are under the gun here.”

Nicole rolled her eyes. “It’s a show.”

Brigette shook her head furiously. “It’s not a show.” We stared at her and finally, she raised her head. “My roommate was taken this morning. She never came back.”
