I refused to admit the satisfaction those words gave me.

"Sucks to be you."

I grabbed Pierre's arm when I reached the elevator and steered him past the sliding doors. I turned and hit the lobby button. When I looked back toward the presidential suite, Prince Vitali was still standing there watching me.

I took the confusion on his face as a win.

"That man wants to eat you," Pierre whispered as the doors slid closed.

I chuckled as I wrapped an arm around him. "I know." I wasn't about to tell him how much I wanted to be eaten.

"Are you going to let him?"

"Eventually."

Okay, so I was stupid.

Still, the bite mark on my shoulder told me that Prince Alessandro Vitali was my future. I just had to decide if I was ready—and willing—to accept that future.

The jury was still out on that.

"How are you?" I was worried about how pale Pierre was. His skin was almost translucent.

"I'm okay," Pierre replied. "I'm more worried about your father. How is he?"

"He's okay. He's back at the hotel with Mother." I wasn't about to tell my uncle how devastated my father was. He'd figure it out just as soon as he saw him. And that was my bigger concern.

The quicker I got the two men back together the quicker Pierre could feed and my father's heart would mend.

I was a little surprised we were able to leave the hotel without anyone trying to detain us. I fully expected a unit of enforcers to try and stop us. When we reached the waiting cab outside the hotel, climbed in, and got on the road, I breathed a sigh of relief.

Until I spotted the black SUV following us.

Figures.

"We have company."

Pierre hissed as he turned in his seat and glanced out the back window. "Do you think he's waiting to see where we are going?"

"I'm sure he knows." I had no doubt by the time I arrived at the hotel this morning, Prince Vitali had had my entire family line investigated all the way back to the dawn of time.

He knew exactly where we were headed.

"Then why are they following us?"

I huffed. "He seems to think I'm his mate."

Pierre's jaw dropped. "Are you?"

"Maybe," I said. "I haven't decided yet."

Pierre snickered. "Don't make it easy for him. Prince Vitali needs to be taken down a notch."

I grinned as I rested my head against Pierre's. "Oh, I couldn't agree more." He needed to be brought down into the realm of mortal man where the rest of the world lived. Being a prince and having riches meant nothing if he was going to be an ass. "I don't think he knows that I'm half vampire."

Pierre's head snapped around so he could look at me. "Are you going to tell him?"

"No, I don't think so."
