Freaking fantastic.

I was going to be here for hours.

"Can't you just patch me up and send me home?" I knew I was whining, but I couldn't help it. This was not the way I had intended to spend my evening. I wanted to paint. I needed to paint. My stress level was going through the roof right now.

This situation was not helping.

"I could, but it would be against my advice for you to leave the hospital until we run some tests on you, Mr. Castellano. You could have serious internal injuries and we won't know until we run those tests."

"But—"

"He'll stay," Alessandro said.

I shot him a deep glare. "You can leave now."

He simply cocked an eyebrow at me.

I groaned and flopped back against the pillows and the exam bed, and then I wished I had chosen something different to throw my tantrum when pain flared through my back.

That fucking hurt.

The richgryphon'sblood I'd taken from Alessandro might be coursing through my system right now, repairing the damage to my body, but it was by no means done.

That would take a few hours at least.

Yet another reason why I didn't want to stick around the hospital. I was healing at an alarming rate. I could feel it. If they didn't take their tests pretty soon, there would be no injuries to show them.

I tried to convey that with my eyes as I glared at Alessandro, but he just crossed his arms and smirked at me.

Bastard.

Apparently, I needed to take matters into my own hands. I swung my legs over the side of the bed and scooted to the edge. "I need to go."

"Gattino." Alessandro moved very quickly to the side of the bed, standing right in front of me and preventing me from climbing off the bed. "You need to stay right where you are until the doctor sees to your injuries."

"No, I need to go." I purposely widened my eyes as I looked up into Alessandro's face. "Now."

Alessandro's brow flickered and his eyes started to roam over me, so I knew he was thinking. Hopefully, he would piece together what I wasn't saying.

"I feel fine," I said. "A few aches and pains, but nothing that won't heal soon."

Like real soon.

Alessandro's eyes widened for a moment and then a smile slid across his mouth that I hoped to never seen again in my life. It was so freaking fake, it was almost laughable.

"Alright, gattino, if that's what you want."

Finally.

"Sir, I really must protest," the doctor said. "He needs to be evaluated by trained medical personnel. He could have internal injuries."

That fake smile was still on Alessandro's face when he turned to the doctor. "I'll call in my personal physician to keep an eye on him for the next twenty-four hours. Will that suffice?"

"No, it will not!"

My eyes widened when the doctor stomped his foot.

"I am the doctor here, and I demand that you allow me to treat my patient."
