I cocked an eyebrow.
Sexy was good.
"Eat your breakfast."
René grinned at me as he reached for his fork. "Yes, dear."
I chuckled even as my chest was filled with an unusual warmth. I could get used to living like this.
"Excuse me, sir."
I glanced over. I wasn't real happy to be interrupted when I was spending some on-on-one time with my mate, but the serious expression on Paolo's face told me he didn't believe he had a choice. "Yes?"
"There is an Alpha Armando Castellano and guest requesting an audience with you."
My gaze snapped to René at his swift inhale. "Your parents are here?"
René started to jump up, but before he could leave his seat, I heard the commotion of my guards trying to stop someone from coming into the penthouse.
"Stop!" Tashi shouted.
"Get out of my way!"
I quickly stood, stepping over to place myself between René and whoever was coming in. I know Paolo said it was René's father, but there was a whole lot of anger in the man shouting at Tashi.
I frowned in confusion when René's father and mother stormed out onto the veranda followed quickly by Tashi and a guard. I waved my people off.
"What is the meaning of this?" I snapped.
"Where is he?" Alpha Castellano shouted. "What did you do with him?"
I realized in that moment that he must have heard about René getting attacked. "He's fine, I promise." I stepped out of the way so they could see René and know I was speaking the truth.
The older man's eyebrows lifted. "René?"
"Hello, Father," René said as he stood. "Mother."
"What are you doing here?"
"Oh, uh..." René glanced at me.
I just stared back, leaving the decision up to him.
René took a step closer to me before facing his parents again. "Alessandro is my true mate. Where else would I be?"
"But..." Alpha Castellano's brow flickered as he glanced between us. "If you are his true mate, then why did he take Pierre?"
"You have my deepest apologies, Alpha Castellano. I misunderstood the situation and thought Pierre was merely your lover. I was trying to save René the heartache of knowing his father was being unfaithful to his mother. Once René explained the situation, I realized how much I had mistaken the situation."
"Okay," the man said slowly, "but why take Pierre?"
I narrowed my eyes as a cold feeling took hold in my gut. "Where is Pierre? Why isn't he with you?"
"I thought..." Alpha Castellano's face paled. "He isn't with you?"
I shook my head. "No. I haven't seen him since René came and took him yesterday morning."
"How do I know you are telling the truth?"
