"They said the men who took Uncle were dressed like your guards."

"And that's what confuses me. Were they dressed similar to my guards or exactly like my guards? That's what I need to know."

If they were dressed exactly the same as my guards, then we had a bigger problem than Pierre's kidnapping. The uniform my guards wore were pretty distinctive. They were also custom made with the logo of my house and station. People were only supposed to get them when they were officially issued to them.

"Tashi, come out to the veranda with us," I directed. "I have some questions for René's parents and I need your input. You too, Sato."

Their uniforms, while similar, were different due to their stations. That might be another piece of the puzzle. Maybe someone was trying to mimic the uniforms my guards wore?

René's father still looked like a wreck when we reached the veranda. His mother sat next to the man, speaking softly to him as she held his hand.

I took a moment to watch the loving interaction between them. I doubted anyone looking at them could tell that they were not true mates. There was an almost visible bond of affection between them.

It was love, just not romantic love.

"I have a few questions," I said as René and I took our seats.

Armando lifted his head. "Questions?"

"I need to know about the uniforms the guards that took Pierre were wearing. What exactly did they look like? Were there any distinguishing marks on their uniforms or anything that stood out?"

Armando frowned before looking at Tashi and Sato. He pointed to Sato. "They wore uniforms like his."

I glanced at Sato and tried to see him as Armando might. Sato's uniform was all black. He wore a tactical vest, gun holster on his hip, black cargo pants that ballooned where his boots began.

Tashi was dressed much the same. The only difference in his uniform was a small golden triangle on his left shoulder that designated him the head of my security. Sato's emblem was red triangle, designating him one of my personal bodyguards.

All in all, they both looked intimidating, but they were supposed to. That was kind of the point. They weren't guarding kittens here. My life and the life of my mate and my people were in their hands.

"Exactly like his?" I asked. "Was the emblem the same?"

Armando squinted before nodding. "It was the same shape, but it was blue."

My head snapped around. "Blue?" I jumped to my feet and walked over to Sato, pointing to the emblem on his left shoulder. "This emblem right here? It was a blue diamond?"

"Yes." Hope blossomed in Armando's eyes. "That means something, doesn't it?"

"It does." I glanced at Tashi, wondering if his mind had gone the same place mine had. Tashi's jaw clenched as his eyes pinned on me. "The different colors of the diamond designate the different branches of my security force. Tashi's is gold because he is the head of my security force. Sato's is red because he is one of my personal bodyguards."

"And the blue triangle?" René asked. "What does it designate?"

"The guards that keep my estate secure wear a blue diamond on their uniforms." I just wasn't sure how that connected to Pierre's disappearance.

"So, the people that took Pierre work for you?" René asked.

"Maybe, but I don't understand how. I haven't told anyone about you. And that doesn't even explain why they would take Pierre." I frowned as my brain buzzed a million miles a minute. "Did they say anything when they took Pierre?"

Armando shrugged. "I don't think so."

"No, they did," Antoinette interjected. "They said they were taking Pierre into custody for his own safety."

I squinted. "His own safety? Those were their exact words?"

Antoinette nodded.

My jaw clenched as I pulled out my phone and dialed the man in charge of my home. "Sisko."

"Sir."
