My laughter drained away, and I narrowed my eyes with my anger. "It is actually enough, Alpha Ramirez. You've fucked with me, my parents, my uncle, and my mate, and I've had more than enough." I nodded to the guards standing behind the three men. "Take them into custody."
The guards started to step forward to grab them, but before they could, Benito leapt toward me. I'd been waiting for one of them to make such a move.
As soon as he reached me, I dropped to one knee, shifted my arm into my gryphon form, and drove my hand into Benito's ribcage. I gloried in his screams as I ripped up, grabbed his heart, and yanked it out of his chest.
I stood back as his body dropped to the floor and tossed his heart down next to him before looking up at the shocked peopled watching me. "Who's next?"
I heard clapping behind me and turned to find Alessandro walking out of the corridor. I winced, not knowing how he would take what I had done to one of his people, even if it had been a traitor.
"Well done,gattino."
I arched an eyebrow.
Alessandro walked over to stand next to me before leaning down to press a kiss to my cheek. He had a smile on his face until he turned to glare at Alpha Ramirez and Alpha Santos.
"So, you think you can be prince, huh?"
Alpha Santos had the good sense bow his head in shame.
Alpha Ramirez, however, glared back at Alessandro with so much hate and rage in his eyes, I could barely look at him. His hands were fisted, and it was clear he wanted to punch Alessandro, but he either wasn't brave enough or he didn't think he could do it.
With his steely eyed glare, bulging muscles, and the aura of danger that seemed to hover around him, Alessandro was quite impressive, so I understood it.
"Since you aren't inheriting the position, you'll have to challenge me for it, but I have to tell you, not a single member of my family has lost a challenge in over five hundred years. I doubt you're going to change that."
Alpha Ramirez smirked as he gestured to one of the guards. "I might not be able to, but he can."
I gasped when I saw who it was."That's the guard that shot me,"I said through our bond.
Alessandro growled as he turned to glare at the guard. "You shot my mate?"
The man sneered at me. "He should have died, too. I don't know how he didn't."
I chuckled. "I'm scrappy like that."
"You must be. No matter how many times I come at you, you won't die."
Was this guy stupid?
My eyes flickered to the man's blond hair. "Are you the one that attacked me in my loft?"
"You should have died then."
"I hadn't claimed Alessandro by then. How did you even know who I was?" That's what I couldn't figure out. Alessandro might have claimed me, but I hadn't claimed him. I had barely acknowledged the bond between us at that point.
"What? You think we didn't have him under surveillance?" The guy snickered and started to spill. Idiot. "How the hell do you think we keep track of him? Benito put a tracker in his food, and he didn't even know he was swallowing it. We've always known where he was and who he was with."
I darted a look at Alessandro, not surprised when I saw him looking at this guy with wide eyes. I was a little shocked by what this guy was saying as well.
Alpha Ramirez, however, was staring at him with a deep glare.
"Shut the fuck up, you moron." He reached over and smacked the guy on the back of the head. "You say one more damn thing and you'll be spilling your guts the hard way."
"No, no, tell us more," Alessandro said. "It's just one more thing we can use in your trial."
"Trial?" the guard shouted. "What trial?"
Alessandro lifted his hand and started flicking up his fingers one at a time. "Breaking and entering, assault, destruction of private property, stalking, attempted murder, and treason."
