He glanced at me. "Did I forget anything?"

I shrugged. "They pissed me off."

"Ah, the biggest offense of all." Alessandro shot me a warm smile before turning a glare on Alpha Ramirez. "I've grown tired of this, Ramirez. I have better things to do than have a dick measuring contest with you."

"Yours is bigger,"I said silently."I can guarantee it."

Alessandro smirked, but didn't reply to my comment. He clasped his hands behind his back and took on a casual stance before asking, "Are you ready to admit defeat, or does this need to get physical?"

As much as I didn't want Alessandro hurt, I kind of wanted this to get physical. I was tired of these idiots threatening my family, and I had no doubt that Alessandro would wipe the floor with them and remove the threat permanently.

"I'll never admit defeat!"

"Okay." Alessandro nodded and his guards came forward and grabbed Alpha Ramirez, Alpha Santos, and the guard. They struggled to get away, but there were too many guards to hold them.

Alessandro stepped back to stand next to me as the guards forced them to their knees.

"You can't do this to me," Alpha Ramirez shouted. "I'm going to be prince!"

"You're not even going to be alpha anymore," Alessandro said. "You'll be lucky if you just get away with being a convict."

I leaned closer to Alessandro and said in a very loud whisper, "Are you sure we can't kill them?"

Alessandro chuckled. "Sorry,gattino."

Damn.

Chapter Twenty-One

~ Alessandro ~

I fumed as I watched the guards force the two alphas and guard to their knees before me. As much as I wish I could kill them like René wanted, I knew I couldn't.

That wasn't how things were done.

I couldn't believe these three—well, four if we included Benito—thought they could take over the position of prince by killing René and me. The only way it would happen was in a sanctioned challenge, and this wasn't it.

"You do realize that even if you had killed me, you wouldn't be prince, right?" I asked.

"If I had killed you—"

I shook my head. "Unless it's a sanctioned challenge, it's not valid, and King Constantine would never allow it. In a coup, he'd come in and kill the person behind it and place someone of his own choice, and it wouldn't be you."

"He wouldn't have a choice!"

I cocked an eyebrow. "You think not?"

Alpha Ramirez roared and shifted as he knocked the guards’ hands away and launched himself at me. I made my wings spring out, wrapping them around me and René, protecting us inside.

I felt a heavy thud against my back, and then a scream. I waited, holding René tight to me.

"Sir," Tashi said. "You can come out now."

I slowly lowered my wings and glanced around. Alpha Santos was still kneeling on the floor, but he was staring in horror at the mess on the floor.

I couldn't blame him.

There was blood and body parts all over the stone floor and right in the middle of it all were three bodies. Alpha Ramirez, Benito, and the guard.
