I was pretty sure it was due partly because the prince of gryphons had mated, but also because of the scandal that had rocked the paranormal world over the attempted coup by two alphas and the prince's home butler. Even after three months, people were still talking about it.

It was insane.

I plastered a smile on my face when Alessandro stepped into another small group of people and introduced me as his consort. We chatted for a few minutes about ridiculous stuff that made me want to roll my eyes before Alessandro started leading to the next small group.

"You owe me."

Alessandro chuckled."A week in our love nest. I promise."

Okay, that mollified me a little bit.

I liked our time at our "love nest". We didn't get to go there often because Alessandro was busy going from clan to clan to root out anymore traitors. We were lucky enough that we hadn't found any so far.

"There's your parents and Pierre," Alessandro said. "Why don't you go get them and take them to my study? They look a little nervous. I'll go get our special guest and meet you there."

"Don't forget to let Paolo know where we're going. He'll blow a gasket if he loses track of us."

Paolo had been especially vigilant since that whole fiasco three months ago. While it hadn't been his fault, he refused to release the guilt he felt that his older brother had used him to betray the prince. He still regularly had his phone checked to make sure it hadn't been cloned.

"I'll let Tito know," I said.

Tito was still learning the ropes, but he was turning into a capable butler. He seemed thrilled with the opportunity to take over his brother Benito's duties and quite satisfied to be right where he was. I was pretty sure he didn't have any plans to become a traitor.

I waved Tito over as I walked toward the door, let him know where Alessandro and I were headed, and then went to greet my parents and Pierre.

"Mother, Father, Uncle Pierre." I leaned in to brush a kiss to each of my mother's cheeks before shaking my father's hand. "I'm glad you could make it."

"Hello, darling," my mother said. "You look wonderful in a tux."

"Not as wonderful as you, Mother. That dress is really something. Versace, isn't it?"

My mother smiled. "You do know your fashion, son."

I smirked. "I know what my mother likes."

"Where is Alessandro?" my father asked. Despite their messy beginning, my father had taken a liking to my mate, which I would forever be grateful for.

"He has something to do real quickly. He said he'd meet us in his study."

Alessandro frowned. "His study?"

"Yes, we have a special guest we want you to meet, and we figured it would be better done in private."

"Is it the grand prince?" Pierre asked. "Has he decided not to support us?"

I shook my head. "The grand prince hasn't arrived yet, but we're expecting him soon."

Pierre did not look reassured.

"Come with me." I nodded my head toward the corridor. I looped my mother's arm through mine, held my head high, and led them through the large entryway and down the corridor to Alessandro's study.

When we reached the study, I escorted my mother to one of the chairs by the fireplace. Alessandro and I had purposely chosen this chair for her because it faced the door.

I gestured for my father and Pierre to take the two chairs we had set up by one of the floor-to-ceiling windows and then walked over to lean against the desk.

Now, all I had to do was wait for our special guest.

"How is Alessandro?" my mother asked. "No lasting effects from that tracker?"
