I tilt my head and playfully glare at her.

“No, I’ve already frozen. This is like in Titanic when we all know Jack could have fit on that door with Rose.”

“Hardly!” She rolls her eyes and laughs. “I’d let you on the door with me.” She winks and spins on her heel, grabbing her bag and sliding into the bathroom, leaving me staring at her with my mouth open.

Well, I’ll be. I like when Sage becomes flirty. Her sass always makes me smile. I lean back on the bed, arms behind my head, smiling like a fool.

When I hear the water turn on in the shower, I jump off the bed and figure out how to make her coffee so that it’s ready when she’s done. Then, I check my phone to see if Hudson’s written about breakfast. I’m in no rush to leave this place, so he can take his sweet time if he wants to.

Seeing no messages and that we still have an hour before check-out, I make both cups of coffee and head downstairs to see if there’s any milk I can steal. I bump into Lex, grabbing a cup of coffee in the breakfast area.

“Hey.”

“Hey, good morning.” Her eyes are swollen with sleep. She cradles the coffee cup and inhales unashamedly.

“Tired?” I lift my brows and chuckle.

“So tired.” She shakes her head. “And your brother sleeps like the dead, so he’s snoring away while I’m awake.”

“That sounds like him,” I laugh.

“You came for coffee?” She eyes me over the rim of her mug as she takes a sip.

“For milk. I made coffee in the room.”

“Good idea. I needed to get out of the room for a bit. I was getting antsy.”

“I get that.” I nod, grabbing a mug and filling it with milk to take upstairs. There’s an assortment of pastries on the table as well.

“Did you have fun last night? Did Sage? I really like her. You did well choosing a girlfriend.” She pats my arm.

“Yeah,” I nod, swallowing back the truth.

I love Lex like a sister, but I can’t tell her the real reason behind my relationship with Sage, especially after the way things have evolved.

“Sage is great,” I add instead.

“She is. She’s super sweet and fits in with all of us so easily. Don’t mess it up.” She points at me with a glare.

“Why would I mess it up?” I lift my hand in offense.

“I don’t know,” she says, shrugging. “I was joking, but you look too guilty.” Her eyes narrow.

“I’m only guilty of caring about her.” I compose myself.

Lex throws her head back and laughs.

“Always the confident charmer, Tristan.” She pats my shoulder. “I’m going back upstairs to wake up Hudson. We’re still on for breakfast, right? I’m starving.”

“Yeah, we’ll meet down here at check-out?”

“You got it.” She playfully punches my shoulder and shakes her head. “I don’t know why I did that. I need more sleep.” She walks off, mumbling to herself.

I head up to the room as well with my mug of steaming milk. I hate the powder they try to pass for milk, so I refuse to use the one in the room for Sage’s coffee. When I walk back in, Sage is opening the bathroom door, steam puffing out of it.

“Coffee, madam.” I bow and add a bit of milk to her coffee.

“You’re the best. Thank you.” She grabs the mug.
