“Come on.” He squeezes me one more time and steps back.

With him in the driver’s seat, I can relax. The muscles in my neck and shoulders are tight and coiled. A massage would definitely be a great cure.

“I’d ask how the drive was, but I think I got an idea.” Hudson laughs.

“Stressful. I’m tired, and I hate driving places I’m unfamiliar with. Can I turn right, or is it one-way? Stop and go. Just so much unknown.” I shake my head.

“We’ll get you checked in the hotel a little later. Are you hungry? Thirsty?”

“I could go for some coffee if that’s what you’re asking.” I smile.

“I’ve got the perfect place then. We’ll drop your car off and walk to a coffee shop near Central Park.” His smile lights up his face. The way he glances at me is full of happiness, and it makes my heart burst like a balloon during a gender reveal party while confetti falls all around me as I jump for joy.

I can’t believe I’m in New York City and spending the afternoon with Hudson. What world am I living in? I’d pinch myself if my fingers weren’t stiff from gripping the steering wheel.

“We’ll go to dinner later. I want to take you to so many places. Are you sure you can’t stay an extra day?” He lifts his eyebrows.

“I don’t know.” I shake my head. At first, I didn’t consider staying longer than the conference days. Hudson and I weren’t a thing when I got invited to host a class, but the workshop does end on Friday, and I could extend my stay and make a weekend out of it.

“I’d have to see if the hotel has a room available.”

“You can stay at my place,” Hudson says quickly.

I lift my brows and tilt my head.

“I have an extra room.” He adds hastily. “Think about it.”

“Okay. Let me come down from the drive so I can think clearly.” It would be nice to add the weekend and have a more relaxed stay with him.

“Is that Central Park?” I point out the window when I see greenery in the middle of concrete.

“Yup. If you’re up for a cold stroll, we’ll walk through it one afternoon.”

“Yes!” My eyes light up.

“I’m glad you’re here.” His hand reaches for mine on my lap, making my skin tingle and my heart pitter-patter.

“Me too.” I smile over at Hudson, who’s focused on the road ahead with a peaceful expression.

“We’re here.” He taps my knee.

I look up in time as he pulls into a parking garage. Excitement soars through me, and I lean forward on the seat, looking through the window. Curiosity about Hudson’s home fills me. I can’t wait to see it.

“Excited?” He teases.

“I am,” I nod. “I have to know if you live in a bachelor pad or some minimalistic high-end place.” I arch a brow.

“You’ll have to find out for yourself. Come on.” He opens his car door with a smug smirk.

I follow him, leaving my suitcase in the car.

“I’m nervous.” Hudson runs his hands down his thighs in front of the elevator.

“Why?” I lean back.

“I don’t know. It’s a part of me you don’t know yet. I can’t help but wonder if you’d approve or not.”

“Hudson.” I reach for his hands. “Why would you think that?”
