Laughing, I shake my head. “You’re ridiculous. That’s a good idea, though. It won’t take long to decorate. I was searching for some ideas online. Look at these.” I open my laptop and show Ellie the decorations I’ve found so far.

“So no eggplants?” She winks.

A loud cackle escapes me, and I throw my head back. “I don’t think Hope would appreciate that.”

“I love the rose gold balloons. That banner is pretty, too.” She points to a gold glitter banner that says, Miss to Mrs.

“I love that one and this one.” I point to the banner with the modern calligraphy script that reads, “Pop the champagne, she’s changing her last name.”

“Oh, yes,” Ellie exclaims. “I love that even more. And those balloons. It should be easy to find the letters to spell out bride.”

“Definitely.” I nod my head. “We should get her a veil, too, right?”

“And a sash that says Bride to Be.”

“What should we get for us?”

“We could do sashes, too. A different one for each of us. It’s us three and Hope, right?”

“Yeah,” I nod. Jody, Hope’s cousin, will also be celebrating with us.

“What about a bridal shower? I know it’s off-topic.” Ellie leans back in her seat and takes a sip of lemonade.

“Her mom is planning it. We’re doing things backward since they want to ski for the bach party. I think she’s planning it for early March.”

“Awesome. I’m so excited about this. It’s not every day I can dress up and go to a fancy event.” Working at the farm keeps Ellie in jeans and shirts with her cowboy boots. The few times she can dress up, she takes advantage, but she’s a country girl at heart.

“Amen to that. It’ll be fun to wear a long dress and have our hair and makeup done.”

“Yes. I’m most excited about a spa day, though. Are we getting massages? Please tell me yes,” she begs.

I laugh at her desperation. “Massages are a must. We’re also getting facials and going to the steam room. Oh, and they have a jacuzzi with an amazing view we can take advantage of.”

“That sounds divine. I can’t wait.” She drops back on her chair as if her muscles have already fully relaxed.

“Same. It’ll be nice to take a vacation.” Even if it involves my ex-boyfriend, who apparently wants to try again.

“For sure. I’m exhausted with trying to keep the farm running at maximum.”

“What’s going on?” I furrow my eyebrows.

“It’s just been stressful. It’s normal to have ups and downs like this, but that doesn’t take away the worries and financial stress.” She leans her elbows on the table.

“I can imagine. Every business has its highs and lows.”

“Yup. Anyway, back to planning. What else are we doing? Knowing you, we aren’t skiing every day,” she teases.

I stick my tongue out and look at my notebook.

“Hudson and I had said Friday can be ski day since it’s our first full day there, and we can have dinner at the resort or go into town and have an early dinner after everyone’s done skiing if they’re not too tired since we’ll likely eat at the resort on Saturday since we’ll be at the spa.”

“How long is our spa treatment?”

“Three to four hours, I believe.” It’s our day to relax, so I don’t want to rush it. We have unlimited time to use the steam room and jacuzzi since those are open to clients at any time.

“In the morning?” She tilts her head.

“It’s at noon. I figured we could have a big breakfast before.”
