“So why don’t we do this. If everyone is skiing on Friday, they’ll probably be tired. We can have dinner at the resort on Friday and go into town for an early dinner Saturday since we’ll be relaxed and rested.”

“That works. I’ll run it by Hudson to make sure it fits in their plans. They were going to ski while we’re at the spa.” I jot down the note, so I don’t forget.

“Yeah, let him know.”

“Great, thanks, Ellie. Although I’m planning the trip with Hudson, I want to make sure we make it memorable for Hope when it comes to a bachelorette party.”

“She’s going to love it.” Ellie squeezes my arm. “How about we go grab a bite to eat. This lemonade is great, but I’m hungry.”

“Oh, snap. I had snacks and forgot about them.” I slap my forehead.

“Your mind’s preoccupied with a certain hottie. It’s understandable, and you’re forgiven,” she winks.

“No,” I shake my head and roll my eyes. “More like you storming in here with rumors clouded my mind and threw me off.”

“Still, it’s about a certain hottie.” She points at me and winks.

“Let’s go eat.” I close my laptop. “If you have any other ideas, let me know.”

“Sounds great, Lex. This is going to be amazing.” She links her arm in mine.

Once we make it to Da Nonna, the Italian restaurant in town, I look at Ellie and debate telling her about my text message conversation with Hudson. She could help put things into perspective.

“You’re good with pizza, right?” Ellie looks at me.

“Yes.” I love the pizza here.

“Good.” She goes back to looking through the menu.

I do the same, attempting to focus on dinner.

“Pineapple and pepperoni?” She glances up at me with a hopeful smile.

I scrunch up my nose and shake my head. “Nice try, but pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza.”

“Does so,” she argues.

“Nuh-uh.” I shake my head again, proving a point.

“If it didn’t, people wouldn’t like it, and places wouldn’t serve it.” Ellie raises her eyebrows in a challenge. She has a point there, but that doesn’t mean I like it.

“Half and half?”

“I don’t know why we argue each time if we always end up doing the same thing,” she giggles. I laugh along with her because it’s true. She tries to push pineapple on me, I refuse it, and we always share the same pie with pineapple on half of it. I’m a pepperoni lover, so that’s all I need to be happy.

After ordering, I take a sip of water and look at Ellie.

“What?” She asks, looking down at herself and back at me.

“Nothing,” I shake my head.

“We haven’t started eating yet, so I can’t be dirty yet.”

“You’re not dirty.” I laugh and lean back. “You promise not to say anything? I just need a sounding board.”

“I knew you were holding out on me,” she exclaims loudly.

“Shhh…” I widen my eyes.
