Ian eyes burrowed into mine, glaring right back at me as he opens the door to the suite and the cops burst inside. I could hear Greg speaking to Jim, Landon’s solicitor. He was muttering about how the feds had a copy of the video that had been recorded and Greg was showing it to Jim as everyone rushed inside. I begin to go inside but Greg holds me back with his hand on my wrist. I yank my wrist away as one of the cops appeared in front of us.
“He’s fine. We got here in time.” His voice is low and there’s disgust in his tone, but I don’t care why it’s there. All I care about it is getting to my boy and making sure he’s okay. He has to be right. My conscience is prickling as I take off like a shot and rush into the bedroom finding my confused, naked man still tied to a bed as police officers bustle around him collecting evidence.
“Does he still need to be tied down?” I ask and one of the officers nods solemnly.
“Yeah, just give us a few minutes please. Wait here and you can go over there in a second, once we untie him, okay?”
Her voice is kind and she waits with me until the other officer starts to undo the cuffs that have my boy face down on the bed. Another officer is speaking to him and his speech is slurred and confused, but he keeps asking for me and I’m bouncing on my feet, waiting to get the okay to go over to talk to him.
“Please, can I talk to him?”
Landon looks up as I speak and his smile is wide, but his eyes are cloudy. He holds his hand out to me and the officer at my side finally gives me the okay to go to him. My whole body starts to tremble with the force of my sobs as I crossed the room in a run and fly straight into his waiting arms. He holds me tightly and we both watch as Xander is led screaming and shouting from the room but I stop listening to his vile threats because Landon is safe. He’s in my arms, and I love him so fucking much.
He just risked everything, his safety, his dignity and his pride to bring my rapist to justice and there was no way I’d ever hate him for that. I knew we had a lot to talk about, moving in together, the new house he bought for us and our future, but it could all wait until later. For just now all that mattered was that we were together.
“Are you okay, darlin’?” I ask him and he shrugs. His eyes are rolling but as the paramedics come into the room and ask to check him over. I lean back, but he holds onto me, clinging to me like I’m his anchor in the storm.
“Don’t let me go?” he asked as the paramedics begin checking him over and I hold onto him tightly, letting them work around us as the check his body for signs of trauma, take his blood pressure and check his heart rate.
“Never. Never again.” I answer and I mean it, sealing my promise with a gentle brush of my lips against his We ignore everyone around us, sharing soft kisses and I wrap him in my jacket which is way too big for him, but it covers his body as we wait for the chair to arrive that will take us to the emergency department.
Before we leave, Maggie and Sid arrive and start talking at me about letting Landon go and getting out of her, but there is no way in hell I’m moving. I won’t break my word to Landon. Not now and not ever again.
“No. I’m going with him and if you don’t like it then that’s to fucking bad.”
Maggie opens her mouth to speak but Greg comes over and kicks them both out of the room as I tighten my hold on my man. I’m not letting them come between us ever again.
“You can go if you want.” Landon slurs as I watch them leave and I glance down, pressing my lips softly to his head.
“No, darlin’. My place is with you and they don’t get to force me to hide, not anymore. I’m coming with you. Wild horses couldn’t keep me away.”
My eyes dart all over his face, taking in his flushed skin and the small smile that gets wider as I finish speaking before he brushes our lips together in a gentle embrace.
“I love you, H,” he mutters against my lips before he continues to talk in the same low whisper, “Thank you for saving me.”
“Of course, my love. I’ll always save you. We are forever, you and I. I’ll be strong as long as you’re with me. I love you so, so much. Forever and always.”
“Forever and always.”
