As soon as his bedroom door was closed, I wasted no time in stripping my clothes off and parading my naked body in front of him. He didn’t give me much chance to seduce him though because he was on me like white on rice.

I knew he would be. And I was going to use it to my advantage.

Our kisses were longer—sloppier. Our touches were slower and more intentional. It was like he could feel why I was here—sense what was about to happen.

“I need all of you,” I begged, rolling on top of him and placing the head of his cock at my entrance.

He pushed up so our chests were touching, our faces in line with each other’s. “You have me, Lena, more than you’ll ever know.”

I hated the tears that sprung to my eyes as I lowered down onto him, wincing at how he stretched me out. I wasn’t sure I’d ever get used to the feel of his width. It wouldn’t matter now anyway because this was it for us, this was the last time he’d be inside me. I was going to miss it. I was going to miss him.

Lifting up and down, I groaned as his hands gripped my ass cheeks and moved me the way he liked it. My hand wandered down, flicking at my clit as we both picked up the pace. I was so close to exploding, and I knew by the way his neck and arms had tensed that he was too.

“Fuck, Lena. Yeah, just like that.” He groaned as I rubbed my fingers faster, feeling my own orgasm starting. “Fuuuuck,” he groaned, pushing his hips up off the bed as I clenched around him and he emptied himself inside me. His warmth mixed with mine as I rode the wave of my orgasm out, relishing in it and trying to capture the feeling so that I’d never forget.

This was it.

My breaths were pants as I looked down at him, our bodies starting to relax. “You’re so much more than anyone ever knows,” I whispered, placing both of my hands on his face. “I see you—the real you.”

I needed him to know that what we’d had wasn’t a game, it wasn’t false. I’d meant every world I’d ever said to him, even though they’d been under a guise.

His hands softened on my ass, a frown taking place on his forehead. His concern was clear as day. “Lena, what’s wrong?”

I shook my head, not wanting to say anything. It wasn’t like I could tell him what was about to happen.

Wait.

My eyes widened as I flung myself off of him and stood. “I…I need to tell you something.” If I did this I knew there was no going back. I was putting everything at risk, but if it’d save him, then I had to do it.

“Lena?” He blinked, his face dropping the longer his attention was on me. I knew I looked crazy, but I couldn’t help it.

“You need to call the job off,” I blurted out, grabbing the nearest thing to me—his T-shirt—and pulling it over my head. I searched the floor for my leggings, grabbed them, and then shoved them on my legs as I rushed out, “You need to tell the guys. It can’t happen today.” I held my hands out in front of me. If only I could convince him to move it to another day then he wouldn’t get caught. All of this could be over and—

“I can’t cancel it, Lena.” He huffed out a breath and pulled his sweats back on. “If you wanna back out, then you can, but I’ve been planning this for months.”

“No.” I grabbed his arm as he walked toward the bedroom door. “You don’t understand.”

“Understand what?” he whipped out, his tone sharp. He was pissed now, his strides quicker as he stormed down the hallway then down the stairs. “You need to leave,” he ground out. “I can’t have my head a mess before the job.”

“Theo,” I pleaded. “Please, just listen to me. You can’t do it today. You can’t—”

“Why?” he shouted, spinning around and getting in my face. “Why can’t I do it today?”

I sunk back, wincing. “Because…you…you can’t…” I swallowed against my dry throat. Maybe I should have let it drop. Maybe I should have let him continue and do what I was meant to do.

But my heart wouldn’t let me. My heart refused to let him get taken down.

“I’m a cop,” I whispered.

“What?”

“I’m a cop,” I said, my voice a little louder. “I’m here undercover and they’re gonna catch you in the act.” I pulled in a breath. “So…you can’t go.”

He didn’t move, his body so still that I could have sworn he was a statue. He wasn’t even breathing. “You’re a cop?” he finally asked, but he didn’t wait for my answer. “Leave.” When I didn’t move, he backed away four steps then growled in a tone I’d never heard before, “Get the fuck out.”

My heart raced, my fright building inside me. Theo Black was a dangerous man, no matter how much softness I’d seen, that didn’t detract from the fact that he’d killed people for less than I’d done.

He was a bomb waiting to explode, and I had to get the hell out of there. So I took one last look at him, cataloging every feature, then spun around and left the life I’d had with Theo behind.
