“So, what’s your name’s?”

Kellie spun around in her seat and crossed her legs, “I’m Kellie and this is Emily.” She held her hand out and shook hands with them both.

They weren’t bad-looking guys. One was blonde and the other was mousy but they were nothing on Troy, I had to admit.

I picked up my glass and took a sip then kept it in my hand and stood up, taking my phone in the other. As I picked up my phone I glanced at the screen and saw a reply from Troy…

I’m not a monster.

I quickly replied to Troy.

I know you wouldn't physically hurt me, it’s every other part of me I’m concerned about.

I gulped the contents of my martini, and almost kicked myself for letting that slip in a text. The last thing I needed was to show him my weaknesses, although I was pretty sure he knew me better than I knew myself. I filled my glass from the pitcher and topped up Kellie’s while she was chatting away to one of the guys. “If you’ll excuse me, I have to use the ladies.”

I put my drink down for a second and put my phone away then grabbed my drink and slid away before the other guy could stop me.

There was a queue, as ever, in the ladies, but I waited patiently and slipped into a cubicle when it was my turn. Once I was done, I flushed and went out to wash my hands and dried them on a paper towel.

As I turned the corner and left the toilets, I heard someone say hello. My head snapped to where the voice was and saw the guy that was at the table.

Hi,” I frowned, “do you usually hang around the ladies’ toilets?”

“Well, I found it a place to meet women, so yeah…”

“Mate, you need to get a life.” I sniggered.

I left him standing there and went back to Kellie. “Wanna dance?”

“Sure, why not.”

“What’s up with your friend?” I heard the guy she was talking to say, I’m not sure who was who, I didn’t take any notice.

“Don’t mind her, she’s a princess and has been locked in a tower and is dying to party.”

I rolled my eyes and gulped down another drink. I was gonna be hanging so bad tomorrow, “And she’s a twat that makes up stories.”

I gripped her arm and pulled her with me. I stopped just before the dancefloor and waited for her to drink her Martini as glasses weren’t allowed on there. “What is wrong with you?” Kellie asked sternly as she tipped her glass back.

“I’ve come for a night out with my best friend and honestly, I don’t like the look of the one guy.”

She swallowed what was left of her drink and slammed it on a high table then dragged me to the floor.

“Shall I call Troy for a lift?” I asked as we left the pub. I’d already tried to get us a taxi but there wasn’t any it was a busy night

“You know if you wanted to see him sooner you only had to say?”

I sighed and rested my hand on my cocked hip. “No, but look at the amount of people waiting for taxis.” I tapped into my app and it told me it would be an hour before it came. “An hour, Kell. I’m not hanging around in town for an hour.”

I pulled my phone back out of my bag, I hadn’t spoken to Troy since the last text I replied to. I walked a little further up the road away from the noise and typed a message out to Troy.

Hey, any chance of that lift. We’re at Queens and it’s a stupidly long wait for a taxi. If you can't, it's fine, I’ll figure something out.

It didn’t take long to get a reply, it wasn’t too late, it was just past midnight.

Stay where you are. I'll be there soon.
