He shakes his head, his hands fisting through his hair.

Torn. He's not the perfect, polished man I thought he was. He's broken, just like me. Drawn to the light because of the darkness seeping inside.

“Whatever is hurting inside of you, you don't need to keep it there. Let it go. Take it out on me. I can handle it.” I adjust my hands, keeping them above me. “I want this.”

He takes a step closer. “What do you want me to do?”

I lick my lips. “Anything.”

He stares at me for a moment, only his chest moving. Pivoting, he heads toward the far wall. With each step, the muscles on his back ripple.Pushing on a panel of the wall, another secret door opens revealing a large cabinet. Damien selects a few items, then prowls toward me like a beast whose cage has just been opened.

“Anything?” He stops right in front of me, raising an eyebrow.

“Anything.” Moisture pools between my thighs with anticipation.

A smile cracks out of the corner of his mouth as he glances up at my hands. Unrolling a set of boxing wraps, he meticulously ties both my hands together around the hook. His body lingers close to mine as he works. So close, I can feel the heat pulsing off him. With every slight brush, tingles ripple up my spine. Once I'm completely secured, he takes a step back, his smirk growing.

The pain is still there, lingering behind his eyes. But it hides beneath a sheen of restrained desire.

I glance down at my dress and bite my bottom lip.

“Do you trust me?”

I shouldn't. Not with everything I've seen. Not with everything I've done. “Yes.”

With slow steps, Damien circles around me. The air grows thicker, electrified like right before a thunderstorm. Suddenly, his hands are on my back, caressing my bare shoulders and working their way down to the hem of my gown.

“Do you have any idea how much this dress cost me?”

I bite my bottom lip, not wanting to know.

“Six thousand dollars.” As he says the words, he yanks with his hands, ripping the fabric in half.

It falls to the floor around my feet, leaving me completely naked and tethered to the ceiling in front of him.

He trails his finger down my spine. “Those bricks you stole from me . . . Cost even more.”

I stiffen, my breath catching in my throat.

“Your phone,” he whispers right in my ear, “wasn’t the only thing Hanale found in the alley.” He bites on my earlobe. I gasp before he sucks it into his mouth, easing the burning with a kiss. “But you,” his hands trail along my torso as he rounds my body, “mean even more.” He stops in front of me. A tear trails down my cheek as he runs his hands up my chest and cups my face. “You are the most important thing in the world to me. I know I haven’t been here lately. But it’s all done. I’m here now.”

More tears stream down my face, landing on his fingers. He knows. How much does he know? My head swims, the darkness creeping back in.

“What now?”

His question startles me. I blink, straining to see through my tears. “Spank me.”

He stands upright.

“Punish me. I deserve it.”

He stares at me for a minute longer before returning to the shelf along the far wall. Opening another drawer, he grabs a hand towel and strolls back to me. The black room seems to grow darker, everything else fading away, leaving only Damien. All of the muscles in his chest and arms ripple as he stops in front of me.

“We don’t need to do this, Kalena.”

“Please.”

With torn features, he unfolds the towel. Spinning it into a long rope, he circles my body again.
