I groaned, forgetting that he was still here on my Skype. “Nothing.”

“Oh. What’d she want?”

“To hook me up with anybody she could at this new club.”

“Going?”

I looked at the screen, and Raphael was buttoning up his shirt. I’d missed all the good parts.

“I don’t know.”

“Well, you’ve got a few hours to figure it out.”

“If you mean six hours when you say a few, you’re about right.”

“Have you been eating more since they laid you off?”

“A little why?” I pulled the pillow in front of my stomach to hide it and my hips.

“Why are you covering up?”

“Cause! Why are you always noticing things at the wrong time?!”

“What do you mean?”

“When we first met, I was on a diet to lose weight and you said I looked frail.”

“I don’t think I said frail. Maybe underweight. Not frail, though.”

I sighed. “Regardless. You really know how to make a girl have self-image issues.”

“I was admiring your curves, not bashing you for them. You look good.”

“Sure you were.”

“Anise.”

I hate that commanding tone. Absolutely loathed it!

“Yes, Raphael?”

“Move the pillow.”

No! I wasn’t. My mind was set yet, my hand inched to the pillow, moving it away slowly.

“Good girl.”

Why did my body always respond so readily when he said that?

“I want to trace that area right there with my fingers.” He pointed, but I did not know what he was talking about.

“What are you talking about, Raph?”

“Put your finger at your knee and move it along your body to trace it.”

I complied, and when I got to my thighs, he groaned in approval.

“Right there to… there!”
