“Yes. Fuck, yes. Finn!”

His stomach muscles clenched. His face contorted in uncontrolled rapture. As Charli spasmed around his cock with her orgasm, Finn came with an unstoppable force, emptying himself inside her.

“Charli!” Her name fell from his lips before he locked them on to her mouth, kissing her as they both came down from the high. He pressed his forehead to hers. Only the sound of their heaving breaths fell between them. His cock was still pulsing inside her. He didn’t want to leave her warm embrace.

“I was wrong.”

She pulled away far enough to search his eyes, her forehead scrunched in question.

“This was the best experience of my life.”

A smile broke free on her face, but it didn’t reach her eyes.

He’d forgotten too much. Would it ever come back? Or would Charli have to live with his impairments for the rest of their lives together? He brushed his thumb over her lips. “I can’t wait to make a million more memories with you.”

Finn kissed her long and slow before tucking her into his arms as he slipped out of her. The loss was instant. Finn wanted to bury himself back inside her, and he would the first chance he got. But for now, he’d hold her. He’d meld his lips to her temple, press her naked skin against his, and live in this moment for as long as she’d let him.

Finn

Finn tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep. Slipping his arm out from under his sleeping wife, he gave her a kiss on the cheek before quietly sneaking out of the room. He grabbed his computer and headphones, setting them on the kitchen bar. After taking a seat, he pulled up the photos and videos.

Picture after picture of himself and other guys in uniform with a desert background loaded on the screen. One man snagged his attention in particular. He zoomed in on his face. Smithson. The guy from his dream. So, it was a memory. Was this the man who’d died in the accident that had stolen all of Finn’s memories? They’d been friends.

Finn plugged in the headphones and clicked play on the video with the two of them. He closed his eyes and rubbed them, searching the fog of memories. His mind exposed flickers and flashes of Smithson laughing, joking, and then being serious with gunshots firing in the background. Smithson’s voice triggered a flashback.

“We could extend your trip another week and go see a buddy of mine in Oregon to catch some Dungeness crab,” Smithson said, turning to look at Finn from the driver’s side.

“Tempting offer. But I need to get back to Charli.”

“You know if I called her, she’d tell you to stay and enjoy yourself.” Smithson chuckled.

Finn laughed. “Yeah, that woman would do anything for me, even to her own detriment. Nah, working on her feet at the bar is getting harder for her the more pregnant she is. I need to go home to help her relax a little. Plus, I’m missing her something fierce.”

Smithson shook his head. “Damn, if I had found a woman like that, maybe I could have considered swinging both ways.”

Finn punched his shoulder playfully. “Hands off. She’s mine.”

“Yeah, yeah. Don’t get your panties in a wad. I’m perfectly happy with my husband.” Smithson’s eyes got that dreamy look.

“We are some lucky bastards, aren’t we?”

“Fuck yeah we are,” Smithson agreed.

“Hey, have you heard from—” Smithson’s question was cut off by the screech of tires and the crash of metal.

Flashes of the dream mingled with the new memories as he was thrust into another.

Gunshots rang in the distance, getting closer. Bullets whizzed by them. Smithson and another soldier flanked him on either side as they moved through the compound.

“Fuck! Incoming!” Smithson threw his weight over him as an explosion rocketed behind them.

Ringing whined in his ears and the tangy taste of iron filled his mouth. Smithson rolled off his back. Finn sucked in a dust-coated breath and coughed. Squinting through the rubble, he checked his brothers-in-arms. “You okay?” He couldn’t even hear his own voice.

Four dust-caked figures gave him a thumbs-up.

Movement caught his attention in the corner of the building just a moment before the enemy was on top of him, stabbing a knife into his shoulder. Pain split through his arm. Adrenaline coursed inside him.
