Leo: Me too.
Emma: No, you don’t! Tell me what is going on.
Asher: Same. Dog trainer just got here.
Emma: You don’t even have a dog . . .
Ravi: Geo is safe. You focus on this trip and saying goodbye to your dad. We’ve got this. Talk to you later.
Emma shoved her phone in the bag at her feet. Geo was safe, and that was the least she could hope for. When this trip was over, she’d go visit him.
“Figured you guys would enjoy the break from each other. Doesn’t it get old being stuck with them for long periods of time?” Link asked.
“We’re like a family. We fight and make up, but at the end of the day, we love each other.” It was sort of how she felt about Link, only that ran oceans deeper.
He nodded. “You ever been with any of them?”
She turned towards him as he kept his gaze steady on the road. “You really want to know?”
“Fuck. That’s a yes,” he growled.
He was jealous. But that only added a ton of confusion to this messed-up situation they were in.
“Asher and I shared one awkward sexual encounter in high school. I knew he was questioning his sexuality and offered to help him see if he really was attracted to women at all.”
A growl ripped from his chest.
“Why do you even care?” she pressed.
Link remained focused on the road. His shoulders tensed near his ears and his arm muscles flexed as he strangled the steering wheel. And they’d been doing so well.
She needed to get them back to a lighter topic. “I was thinking that maybe when we hit Denver on the way back, we could get a tattoo in memory of Dad. I have a friend there who’s really good.”
His brow creased in confusion. “You have a tattoo?”
She smirked. “A few.”
His eyes narrowed like he was trying to remember. “Birds on your collarbone.”
She nodded. “And a couple others.”
“Where?”
She shrugged. “Perhaps I’ll show you someday—if you’re lucky,” she teased.
“You can’t shut that off, can you?” he grumbled.
“Shut what off?”
“That sass.”
She chuckled. “I’m taking it easy on you.”
“Oh really?”
“You couldn’t handle all of me.” She bit her bottom lip.
