They turned and left, getting a booth at the opposite end of the diner.
Mason turned towards Aspen. “You think you and Rachel can patch things up?”
Aspen looked up at him. “Pippa told me that the people who really love me will make an effort to stay in my life. If they don’t, it’s their loss. Because I’m special, and smart, and talented.”
Mason’s breath halted. “Pippa told you that, huh?”
“Yup.”
“Well, she’s right.”
“Thanks, Daddy.”
Mason wasn’t perfect. Perfection was an illusion. It was time he started making an effort to show Pippa just how sorry he was. But would she give him another chance? Or had he destroyed any hope with his Beauty?
