He leaned in to speak in her ear, his voice deep and low, making her belly tumble with butterflies. “I have a fantasy involving this red suit on the floor of my bedroom, and you naked and wet on my bed while I eat your pussy like cake.”

She swallowed hard and squeezed her hand tighter around him. “You sound so sure of yourself that it’s gonna happen.”

“When I take you again, you’re gonna be mine, and I won’t let go. When you’re ready for that kind of commitment, you let me know.”

She shivered. “Will you be making up for all this lost time with orgasms?”

“Baby, not one second spent with you is lost.” He kissed her temple. “But I promise, when you figure out you love me just as much as I love you, I’ll give you all the orgasms you want.”

Oh, God. How could she not love him back? It seemed wrong to withhold those three little words and let Mason continue to believe she didn’t feel the same way about him.

“I already know I love you too,” she confessed.

He smiled. “But you don’t trust me not to hurt you again yet. You’re still holding back. And rightfully so. I’m a patient man, Beauty. I’ll wait until you’re ready for forever, because that’s what I need with you.”

Forever? Here she was still debating if her heart could take dating this man again and he was talking about forever. What did that mean? Marriage? This was all so fast. But if she did open herself up to him again, there would be no turning back. She wanted forever too.

“I can hear those wheels spinning.” He chuckled and stopped walking before turning to face her. “I love you, Beauty.” He kissed her lightly and pulled back to look in her eyes.

“I love you too, Beast.”

“You guys are so corny,” Aspen whined next to them. Lady panted beside her.

Pippa looked to Mason before they both burst out laughing.

He picked up his daughter. She screamed. He threw her over his shoulder as he rushed into the water.

“Dad! It’s cold! No! Help me, Pippa! Help—”

Both father and daughter disappeared into one of the large waves. Aspen surfaced, her hair hanging limply over her face. She swiped it aside as Mason emerged from the sea like Poseidon himself, wiping his face, laughing. Seawater dripped down the hard planes of his defined chest, glistening in the sunlight. Pippa’s mouth grew dry. He was hotter than the August sun beating down on them.

Aspen splashed her dad and he laughed. Pippa pulled out her phone and snapped a picture of the two of them playing together. She captured the moment with a wide grin on her face.

Aspen jumped onto his back, hanging on to his neck, choking him before he threw himself backwards into the next wave. She came sputtering out of the water first, held up by his capable hands. He was playful and protective. Her heart thudded, melting to goo in her chest. Could this really be her life? Could she be a part of this family?

“Pippa, come on. I need your help to take my dad down.”

“Two against one sounds hardly fair,” Mason argued with a knowing grin.

Pippa placed her phone in her bag on the dry sand. She bent over and filled her portable bowl with water for Lady and set it next to the bag. The dog lapped the water as Pippa walked into the sea.

“You know us girls have to stick together,” Aspen answered.

Mason met her partway. Her eyes traveled down his naked torso, need building inside her. “You ready to be outnumbered, Mr. Wright?”

“Only if it’s you, Miss . . .” His brows drew together. “I still don’t even know your last name.”

“Davis. Pippa Davis.”

A dark cloud covered his vision as he frowned, looking a little closer at her. He shook his head and blinked.

“What’s wrong?”

He opened his mouth and then closed it, peeking over at Aspen who was getting closer to them. “Nothing.”

“Get him!” Aspen yelled as she splashed water towards them. Mason grabbed Pippa’s shoulders and forced her in front of him like a human shield.

“Hey!” Pippa yelled.
