Her heart stuttered. “Must have been one hell of an orgasm you gave him.”

He barked out a laugh, backing away and shaking his head. His eyes were lit with humor, and he winked. “Nah, Beauty, I save those benefits for only you.”

Butterflies danced in her belly and fluttered in her chest. “Why would you do this for me? I get that we’re friends, but this is above and beyond . . .” Did he feel responsible for her? Was she becoming a burden on him?

“I just want to know you’re safe.” His voice was rough.

Something cracked inside her chest. So this would set his mind at ease? She could do that for him. After all, the man told a pretty epic bedtime story.

“Alright. Thank you. For last night, and for this.”

He set the drill and the box on the ladder before pulling her into his arms and kissing her forehead. She squeezed him closer, breathing in his clean, masculine scent. Safety and peace enveloped her.

“Pippa!”

Mason jerked his arms away, standing a few feet from her as Aspen bounded down the sidewalk towards them. A man in blue scrubs, who looked strikingly similar to Mason, followed her.

“Hey, sweet pea. You have fun with Uncle Sebastian?” Mason asked.

So this guy was Mason’s brother?

Sebastian’s gaze cut towards her, assessing her, before he smiled. “You must be Pippa. Mason’s told me a lot about you.”

A low growl came from beside her. Pippa’s eyes widened as she glanced at Mason before focusing on his brother. “Oh, has he?”

“Pippa, this is my asshole brother, Sebastian,” Mason grumbled the introduction.

Sebastian’s grin widened as his eyes flashed with mischief. “Older brother.”

“By five minutes,” Mason corrected.

Pippa flicked her gaze between the two men. “You’re twins?”

“Yes. And I learned a lot about life in those five minutes, brother. Don’t discount them.” Sebastian turned his attention to Aspen. “Be good, and don’t tell your dad I let you get ice cream for lunch with cake for dessert.”

“Seb.” Mason sighed, wiping his hand over his face as if frustrated.

“The girl needs to be spoiled every now and then. That’s what her uncle is for. Okay, I’m off to work.” Sebastian opened his arms to hug Pippa, and she returned the gesture.

He’s a friendly guy.

He whispered in her ear, “Be patient with him.”

Sebastian pulled back and gave his niece a hug before waving goodbye. Pippa swallowed. Her mind reeled from his comment and from the news Mason was a twin.

“Is the new episode of Selfie in?” Aspen asked, taking her hand and leading her inside the shop. Pippa shot Mason a quick glance, but he’d refocused on his work.

“Yeah, it’s in the comic books section.”

Aspen walked over to the correct location and pulled the comic off the shelf as her eyes greedily roamed over the cover. She squealed. “I can’t wait to read it. Can you save me a copy for the week I go to summer camp?”

“Absolutely. What kind of summer camp is it?”

“Soccer.” Aspen dropped Pippa’s hand and flipped open the cover.

“Is Rachel going to be there?”

Aspen’s eyes dimmed as she shrugged. “I guess so.”
