Her skin was hot to the touch. Was she burning with the same fever?

“Now how about one with you behind her?” Ryan asked, drawing him out of the trance her lips captured him in.

Her focus hazed, as if she was as undone by his touch as he was hers. Another surge of pride puffed out his chest, and he walked behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist—there was no way she wouldn’t feel his hard cock in this position.

A small gasp left her kiss swollen lips.

“Perfect. Now, Brynn, tip your head up and look at Aaron,” Ryan directed.

Brynn hesitantly obeyed. She sucked in her bottom lip the tiniest bit and he fought the urge to pull it from her teeth with his thumb. Whoa. Calm down.

“Got it. I think that’s everything unless you wanted something else?” Ryan stood.

Aaron shook his head and took a step away from Brynn. “Nope, that’s good.”

“Those will turn out beautifully,” his mother said from behind.

He turned to face her, and reality came crashing down on him. He gave his parents a curt smile and removed his jacket once more to wrap around Brynn’s shoulders before putting his arm around her. She instinctively leaned into him. Did she even realize she’d done that?

“Hey, Mom, Dad. This is my wife, Brynn.” Wow, that would take a bit of getting used to; he had a wife. “Brynn, this is my parents, Samuel and Iris Ridley.

Lines appeared in the corner of his mother’s eyes as she smiled at Brynn and held out her hand to shake. “Oh, you are beautiful. It’s so nice to meet you.”

Brynn returned the gesture, a flicker of a smile turning her lips upwards before it was gone. His father extended his hand next, and Brynn repeated the gesture.

“Son, you look like you’ve been well,” his father remarked.

Aaron nodded. “Thanks for coming. Brynn’s daughter, Dani, is around here somewhere.” And hopefully you keep your comments to yourself.

Maybe inviting them had been a mistake. But they wouldn’t know Dani was trans, just like Emmanuel, unless someone told them.

“I was just telling Samuel, we haven’t had a vacation in forever. Maybe we can get together this Thanksgiving? It’s been so long since we celebrated a holiday as a family.” His mother’s hopeful gaze volleyed between him and his wife.

Brynn turned to him.

He nodded. “That might be nice.”

“I’ll call you next week and make plans, or are you both going away longer for the honeymoon?”

“No,” Brynn said, her first words to his parents. “I mean we’ll be here next week.”

His mother cast a questioning glance his way, then smiled again at Brynn. “Alright, then, I’ll call you. I’d love to meet our new granddaughter.”

Aaron’s hand dropped to the small of Brynn’s back. “Let’s head in. I’m sure the tables are set up for dinner.”

He led them all back into the barn, and gone were the rows of chairs, now replaced with long family-style tables decorated in white linen with greenery and flowers woven down the center of each one. He had Nova Emerson to thank for all her input. He’d given them vague instructions, the overall goal of what he wanted to achieve, and the Emersons had blown it out of the water. Everything was perfect. And by the awe in Brynn’s eyes, she thought so too.

Dani was sitting with Aspen, Pippa, and Mason.

“Are the twins with Grandpa tonight?” Aaron asked Mason.

He smiled, only half his scarred face turning up. “They sure are.”

“And we have the treehouse all set up and winterized so the girls will be cozy for their sleepover,” Pippa added.

Brynn tensed next to him. They had to keep up appearances. Everyone would be expecting them to end their night in wedded bliss.

“Sounds fun. Hey, Dani, my parents wanted to meet you.” Aaron motioned to his mom and dad.
