“It makes me happy. Very little makes me happy.”

Arluth put the tray on the table. “Lord Yavor, the orbital station needs your attention.”

He was drying her slowly, and he nodded. “So, they sent you so I would answer the call?”

“Correct.”

Iris took over the towel and let Yavor walk back to his desk. She walked over to the table, and she smiled at Arluth. “So, have you seen Lily since yesterday?”

“She is at her studies.” He bowed. “She wishes me to ask about your status.”

“Tell her I am fine.” She uncovered the food that was obviously intended for Yavor. She sectioned off some for herself and started eating while the overseer spoke to the commander of the space station.

“The station travels from world to world, taking items and personnel. They were the vessel that transported and woke you.”

“Oh. I never really thought about how we woke up. I just remember being bustled into a shuttle, and then we had to dealwith the landing and the run to the city gates.” She sat back after she had finished her portion and covered the rest of the food with the lid.

Yavor paused his conversation and looked at her. “Eat it all. I am full.”

She looked at him, and her cheeks heated. “Fine.”

She uncovered the food, and Arluth chuckled. “It seems you have satisfied his appetite, Lady Irith.”

She just ate. Her body felt hollow, so she worked through the meal and drank the juice provided.

She finished, and Yavor came up behind her to rub her back. “How was it?”

“Filling.” She put the cover back on.

“I have to go to the station for a bit. Would you like to go with me?”

“You want me to leave the atmosphere on a full belly?” She turned her head toward him. “Are you going to unlock my clothes?”

“Of course, Irith.” He walked over to the wardrobe and unlocked it.

Arluth looked at him. “Lord Yavor, may I have a word?”

“Certainly.”

“May I pursue the Terran, Lily?”

Iris wanted to go and find her sister to warn her that Arluth had his eyes on her. If he had eyes. With those shifting shadows, it was hard to tell. His body might be similar to Yavor’s, but no wings.Wait, did he have a body?

Arluth looked at her and snorted. “You and your sibling have much in common. You keep your questions to yourself, but try to lead me into speaking.”

“I didn’t say anything.”

He laughed. “I know. She does not ask either. I have to guess at what she wants to know as she doesn’t have my particular skills.”

“Will that be a problem?”

“Not if I can take her as a mate. I have never had a mate before, but I think Lily is delightful.”

Iris paused and looked at Yavor. “What do I say here?”

“Either deny him or welcome him to court your sister. There is no guarantee that she will take him on.”

Iris pressed her hand to her forehead. “Right, no guarantee.”
