Yavor laughed. “You have my authorization.”

“Lady Irith?”

She looked at his flaring shadows. “Go for it. Just make sure she understands your work assessing new arrivals and how, in the case of someone companion class, the assessment gets specific.”

Arluth bowed. “Thank you, Lady Irith. I will. She is aware, but I will make sure she fully understands.”

“May I ask, why did you wait?”

Arluth’s head turned toward Yavor and back to her. “I was informed by Lily that the eldest sibling had to be settled. Your marks are strong and bright, so you are settled.”

She grimaced. “So it would seem.”

He chuckled, and it echoed. “You will learn each other in time. I have watched it in endless new colonists.”

Iris nodded. “Keep that in mind when you start courting Lily. She likes math and science. Biology and chemistry. I wish that didn’t sound flirty, but she was nearly a doctor at home, and with all the new species here to treat and research, she wants to let her mind go crazy and learn all she can.”

Arluth nodded. “That can be arranged.”

“Good. When you jostle her out of her studies, and she looks at you with a bright smile, you will know there is affection. As for lust, I have no idea.”

Arluth chuckled. “I can detect lust. Affection is tricky. I want both.”

“Then, ask her for them, or earn them. Your choice. You have my blessing.” She got up and headed to the wardrobe. She pulled out something black and blue and dropped the towel before getting dressed. She smirked when Arluth left after a short growl from Yavor.

“He’s already seen me, as much as anyone has.”

“He has brought you to release. Twice.”

She put the embroidered band around her breasts and pulled the diagonal strap from the left back to the front right. The breast band had Yavor’s mark, as did the waistband of the skirt. The boots were silky black. She kept sighing as she looked at her pale blue skin.

Yavor wrapped his arms around her. “You look lovely.”

“You are turning me blue.”

He chuckled, and he stroked his hands over her bare abdomen. “Would you like to know more?”

“Yes.”

“When a pattern blooms under where my hand is, our efforts will have been successful.”

“Our efforts? I recall doing most of the work, Yavor.”

He chuckled. “Things will become more equal over time. You need to build up stamina, Irith.”

She gasped and turned to look at him. “What do you mean by that?”

“You fainted when I pulled out of you. Yes, you blacked out with pleasure. I checked to make sure you were all right.”

Iris looked at him and sighed. “I know. I heard you.”

He looked at her and cocked his head. “By the contract you signed, you are my companion for the next century.”

He had put on some loose trousers, and that was it. She looked him up and down, and part of her brain was wondering if he liked conflict sex.

“What are you thinking, Irith?”

“What is your schedule like, Yavor?”
