Lily looked at her brother-in-law. “They didn’t do anything but talk, but she shot that one, and Arluth tied this one up.”

Yavor walked up to Iris and ran his hands over her as he looked her up and down, and then his gaze dropped to the new mark below her navel. Joy flickered in his eyes, and the hug was unavoidable. He whispered in her ear about how he wanted to celebrate, and she blushed and turned her head for a kiss.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and vaguely heard people talking, but she didn’t care, the kiss went on and on, and it was just the beginning.

* * * *

Lily looked at the fascinated Hmrain. “So, yeah. She’s companion class. No doubt. As for the other two, I think Yavor would allow us to shave their heads so that folks would think twice about believing them.”

She chuckled, and they nodded.

Arluth kept his arms around Lily. “I have passed along the order. You may witness it when you return.”

One of the Hmrain swallowed and looked at Lily. “And you are the shadow’s?”

Arluth covered all of her but her neck. “We have an understanding.” She looked at the Hmrain. “Understand?”

They nodded, and Yavor and Iris’s make-out session had escalated, and he simply walked away wearing her with her legs wrapped around his hips.

Lily was happy to see that Iris was settling in. She was also in storm rider training, though Abet wouldn’t let her ride anyone else. The riders were coming into the med centres for birth control as mating season was right around the corner.

She grinned. Mating season was always around the corner in this household. She couldn’t imagine it increasing. She was going to finish her internship and then think about her own mate. He was holding off until she was comfortable, but she was wearing him as a large coat right now, and she had never felt more at ease.

Life was certainly different now that they were starting over, but it was certainly interesting. Lily didn’t think that out of all possible outcomes, this was the worst thing that could have occurred.

Loud, bright laughter came from the upper level; it was Yavor’s. Lily grinned. Her sister finally had someone willing to take care of her and did a good job of it. Iris finally had time to start a family of her own. Lily knew she would be a great mom. She had already done the job once and done it really well. A niece or nephew with wings would be amazing and loved. She would see to it.

Author’s Note

I love getting into shattered stars. Not that I had fun destroying Earth, but... well, maybe a little.

Does anyone want to find out how Janessa ended up with Kethen? It wasn’t cute or romantic. So... just asking.

Thanks for reading,
