I didn’t need to be told twice. I grabbed her leg and pulled it around my waist. She understood, hooking it there, baring herself to me. I teased her clit with my thumb and she squirmed, making adorable gasping sounds between our desperate kisses. When I plunged a finger inside, her head fell back, and she gasped.

My lips moved to her neck, my tongue and teeth now exploring the soft, sensitive skin. I added a finger, working in and out, making her breaths come quicker and more shallow.

When my lips found her nipples, she arched her back, mewling with pleasure as I worshiped her body. Her hips moved with my thrusts, and I tasted, nibbled, and sucked.

She exploded, wetness coating my fingers as her body convulsed. Crying out, she gasped for air, and I had to adjust to catch her as she went boneless in my arms.

Eyes closed and panting, she let me hold her, without the slightest resistance. She trusted that I wouldn’t let her fall. I tensed, realizing what I’d done.

I wasn’t worthy of her. I was going to hand her over in exchange for my pack. I was a monster.

Her eyes fluttered open, and when she caught my expression, her brow wrinkled. “What’s wrong?”

I helped her to her feet. “We should go.”

“What aboutyourturn?” Her voice was sultry, seductive, dripping with sex.

My cock ached. I wanted her more than I’d ever wanted anyone but I had already crossed a line. “I just wanted to please you.”

She lifted her eyebrows. “I’ve been told I’m very good with my mouth.”

“Not now,” I said harshly. “Get dressed.”

The pain that flashed over her face was brief, but it felt like a knife in my heart. She tightened her jaw and turned her eyes cold as ice. “Fine.”

We dressed in silence and when we got back to the house, I closed myself in my room without a word.

I crossed a line, and I wasn’t sure I would be able to prevent myself from doing it again.

ChapterTwenty-Two

Morgan

After Owen,I’d vowed never again to fall for a pretty face. That’s what I’d done with Luke. All the signals and all the flirting lulled me into a false sense of what he was. I’d fallen head-first. I was an idiot.

The worst part was that I didn’t regret what I did. I didn’t regret the feel of his lips against mine. I knew that was wrong, but for this moment, I was going to let myself have it. Admitting I made a mistake was the first step. Sure, I was pissed at him, but I couldn’t ignore the feelings he stirred in me.

There was something there. I wasn’t going to act on it again, but I knew it wasn’t in my head.

That had to count for something.

My door opened and my heart slammed into my ribs and I went rigid, half-expecting to see Luke strolling in to finish what we started. I deflated when Jasmine bounded into my room, happiness radiating from her like sunshine.

Quickly, I adjusted my posture and tried to match her energy. This was the relationship I needed to always show up for. Jasmine would never let me down. “You look happy.”

“Did you know that my magic can be controlled? Like an instrument. Tuned and adjusted. It doesn’t only have to be lethal.” She sat next to me on the bed.

“I’m going to need more information,” I said.

She laughed. “I know I never really told you the truth about what I could do. And I’m sorry. And I know you probably hate me but I didn’t want you to be afraid of me.”

“What are you even talking about?” I asked.

“I have mind magic. I thought you figured that out.” She tucked her hands into her lap and made herself small. She was embarrassed.

I grasped her shoulders and gently shook her. “Don’t do that. Nothing about your magic is wrong or would make me think any less of you.”

She grinned. “For real?”
