But she had if the arm thrown across her was any indication. She was snuggled in her bed, not sitting at a bar.

Opening her eyes slowly, as if that would change the outcome, she met Jaxson’s adorable gaze. He looked sleepy as if he had just woken up as well with a sappy smile gracing his face.

“Morning, darling.” He leaned closer, brushing his lips lightly with hers.

Thankfully, he didn’t try for a deeper kiss because that did not sound appetizing at the moment. She had to have the most horrid morning breath on earth. She didn’t even remember coming home, so she didn’t have high hopes she brushed her teeth before making it to her bed.

When she didn’t say anything—still sort of lost for words—his hand traveled from her stomach to her breast, brushing it gently, but not doing the glorious things she knew he could do.

Wow. She wasn’t simply lying in bed with the most handsome man on the planet. She was also naked—yep, she didn’t remember that either.

Which had her anxiety rising even further. What else did she do—or say—that she didn’t remember?

He must’ve sensed her unease. Instead of making another sweep around her breast, fondling her nipple, he brought his hand back down to its original spot.

“You okay? Do you have a headache or anything? What can I do?”

Always so attentive to her needs. What did she ever do to deserve this wonderful man? What did he see in her? She was nothing but a walking disaster.

“I’m okay.”

His brows puckered as if debating whether or not to believe her. She was okay. Her head wasn’t pounding too badly. A slight, almost on the verge of annoying pounding, but not quite full-blown yet. Her nerves were too rattled anyway to have her entire focus on the pain in her head.

She was in bed with Jaxson Brandt once again, and she didn’t want to get out any time soon. Bad. Idea. She was supposed to break up with him.

He brushed his hand across her cheek, sending tendrils of delicious desire down her spine. More, please. More touches everywhere. Erase her memory of every bad thought that was coursing through her brain right now.

“You’re so beautiful. So damn beautiful.” Then his lips sealed his tender words with a kiss as if making them truer by doing so.

She shouldn’t give him the impression things were going in the direction he thought they were.

“What happened last night?”

She’d start there and then make her way to the breakup part. Made sense. First, find out all the insane things she said and did and then get the nasty part out of the way.

His lips spread into a wide smile, laughter shining in his eyes, yet none left his mouth. But he was clearly laughing at her. Oh, boy. That didn’t bode well for her.

“You are an adorable drunk. More so than I’ve ever seen you before. It’s a rare occasion when I see you that drunk. Super cute.”

“Stop. I am not.” She slapped him playfully on the shoulder, embarrassed by whatever she must’ve done last night.

“What did I do?”

He chuckled, snatching a kiss. “Nothing too terrible, I promise. You teased me about my hickey—that you gave me, by the way.”

She covered her hands over her face after taking a glance at his neck. The damn hickey was huge. HUGE. She couldn’t believe she did that. Everyone had to have commented. Including Gabby.

“Hey, don’t get shy on me now.” Jaxson pulled her hands away, kissing each one before dropping them back down in their original spot.

“Gabby knows everything, doesn’t she?”

Here they go. To the hard part.

“No, she doesn’t. I didn’t tell her. Not yet anyway,” he added quickly as if sensing where she was about to take this conversation. “Brick knows, though. He won’t tell anyone until we’re ready to tell them.”

“Jaxson—”

“Come on,” he said, cutting her off after kissing her once again. “We have a busy day.”
