Brick laughed, the sound booming halfway across the room.

“Keep it in your pants until you leave from now on. Yeah?”

Jaxson could only join in on the laughter as he took another long swallow of his beer. He had no comeback to that. It was probably wise not to say anything.

“So, when’s the wedding?”

Jaxson shrugged. “I’m just happy the ring is on her finger.”

“Double wedding?”

He obviously meant with Gabby and Dane. While that might be fun—and interesting—Jaxson preferred not to share his special day with someone else. When he married Mia, he wanted her all to himself. Even the day itself.

“I don’t think so.”

“Did you see who’s here?” Brick’s eyes lit up.

Everyone’s eyes did as the star center fielder for New York’s team walked into the room with his girlfriend, Mia’s friend.

“Yep, I see.”

Gabby could barely contain her excitement, yet she kept her cool as Mia introduced them. Dane, who had been talking to some of his friends, joined Gabby, unable to stay away from the excitement.

Oh, and they were excited. He could see the joy and awe on both of their faces.

This party, every headache that came with it—mostly the arguing and distance with Mia—was worth every second. Just to see their happiness.

It didn’t mean he wanted to plan a party ever again. No, thanks. Give him one task, maybe making the cake, and he would be good. But the entire thing, especially the invites, sucked.

“You gonna go say hi? Get an autograph, like me?”

“Yeah, soon. Go ahead, Brick.”

Brick didn’t waste any time heading over to the group of people. Jaxson would eventually fan-girl over the baseball player later. But for now, he wanted to revel in all the happiness surrounding him right now.

His best friend was happy, despite the surprise party.

His other friend was equally happy, even with his brother in attendance and the slight tension still lingering between them.

And most of all, the woman of his dreams was finally, irrevocably his.

Life was perfect.

Epilogue

Two Weeks Later

“Is it wrong to say I’m jealous?”

Jaxson kissed the top of Mia’s head as she leaned into him, resting her head on his chest. They watched Dane and Gabby jaunt down their apartment steps with luggage galore.

Geez, what in the world did they pack? They were going on vacation for a week. Not an entire year.

“Say the word, I’ll take you wherever you want to go.”

Mia snuggled closer to him. “You would, too.”

“I’d do anything for you.”
