No. She was imagining things. Brick couldn’t love her. They were friends, yes. But they hadn’t known each other that long. Only a few months.

He slid over her, then entered her with an aching patience she wasn’t used to. As if he wanted to savor every second. She knew she was. Because how long would this last?

For a moment, she stiffened.

He paused.

“Did I hurt you?”

She forced the moment of panic away and smiled. “No. Of course not.”

He continued to stare at her with his brows drawn low and his lips in a frown. She didn’t like that look on him, especially when he was deep inside her. But she couldn’t explain how the thought of this ending, of not having him for forever, hit her more strongly than she imagined.

Damn. She should’ve kept her distance and never jumped into bed with him because after her mother left, they’d turn into roommates, not fake engaged.

Or would they keep sleeping together? Friends with benefits?

Ew. No, she didn’t like that idea at all.

He pulled out. Her features turned downward that he was pulling away, and not just physically, but mentally as well. He paused as if trying to decipher her expression. Then, with a grin, he slid back in just as slowly.

Her eyes closed as a wave of pleasure flooded her system. A quiet moan slipped out.

Soft kisses touched her cheek and neck as he continued to love her with a delicate patience she treasured.

“Open your eyes, Jezebelle.”

She obeyed. Not because it had sounded like a command, but because it had sounded like a plea. As if he had to see her eyes or something dire would happen.

He thrust hard, yet gently. Their eyes locked together. Their bodies molded in perfection.

The passion between them grew even as their movements stayed tender and slow. She held onto him, her fingers gripping his back, her legs curled around his waist. He never picked up the speed or tore his gaze from hers.

At times, she felt compelled to look away, confused and scared at what she was seeing in his eyes. A fluttering of emotions that were impossible to decipher, at least not while they were locked so fiercely together.

But she didn’t look away. She kept her eyes on him.

Their movements started to increase in speed, his thrusts getting harder. He lifted slightly, forcing her to disengage her strong hold on his back. Then his fingers touched her in that same magical spot his tongue had devoured. His eyes held hers as he worked the bliss building between them until nothing but euphoria shifted through her system.

She cried out again, her eyes closing without meaning to.

“Open your eyes, Jezebelle.”

The moment she did as he asked, he tensed, groaning as his release hit him.

His heavy weight pressed down on her, his lips tracing a path from her neck to her lips.

“Holy shit.”

Yeah.

That was a good way to describe what just happened between them. Not the elegant words she would’ve used, but the way he said it, she knew what he was trying to say.

That had been spectacular, and nothing she had ever felt before.
