“Not really.” He chuckled, although nothing was funny. More like to loosen the tension he knew was swirling around him.

He enjoyed talking to others, hearing their woes, sharing in their pain and triumphs, but he didn’t like to delve deeper into his life. He kept his heart and private life guarded. Hell, the bartenders who had been with him since he opened the place didn’t even know the real reason he and his brother had a falling out. One day Corey was around and the next he wasn’t. He got a few questions, but when he shut it down with little fanfare, they stopped inquiring.

Antonio nodded toward the bottle.

“You can still get good use out of that.”

Then he walked away toward the other end of the bar.

Yeah, sure, he could open the beer and drain it in one swallow, but that wasn’t who he was. He didn’t drown his pain and sorrows in alcohol. He solved his shit like an adult, even if parts of it could be gut-wrenching to the bone.

Which meant he had to make amends with his brother.

He had to give him the ring.
