But he was tied to Melanie, no matter how much he wanted to ignore it. He’d always be tied to her. Eventually, he’d have to come to terms with that.

Now wasn’t the time for it.

“What are you doing here, Corey? If you don’t want me watching Amelie anymore, I won’t argue about it.”

“Just like that. After all the difficulties you gave me in the beginning, you aren’t going to fight for her anymore?”

For us?

“Fighting is exhausting. I don’t think I can keep doing it with you.”

He took a step closer; she retreated, hitting the door. “We haven’t argued in the longest time. I’m sorry we did today.”

“How sorry? You didn’t even bring Amelie with. How else can I interrupt that other than you’re saying good-bye?”

“How about more like this.” Then he was shoving her against the door, his lips forging with hers.

She didn’t resist him by pushing him away. Instead, her arms wove around him and her hands spread through his hair, pulling on the ends. The kiss, like their hands, turned volatile. Tongues clashed, deep moans filtered into the air. He pressed hard into her; she met his ache with a push forward as well.

Her shirt disappeared. His next. Then he was shoving down his pants, she was shoving down hers, and they were naked, their lips fused together as one, and soon their entire bodies.

He lifted her by the hips and slid inside, groaning deep at how slick and wet she was. How wonderful the sensations felt. How beautiful their joining was every time they came together.

Thrust after thrust filled the room. Pounding into her as if he’d never be able to do it again. He broke the kiss, trailing kisses down her neck to her ear and bit down. Her soft cry said he might’ve bitten too hard. When her teeth grazed his shoulder and took a bite herself, he knew she was delivering the pain in return. Erotic pain that he didn’t mind. He’d endure anything from her.

Anything but losing her.

He curled his head into her neck, yet he didn’t move this time. No kisses. No bites. Only full concentration as he thrusted in and out of her with complete abandon. He let every emotion that carried him through the day grind out of his system. She clung to him, holding onto the wild ride he took them on.

The tension between them climbed, higher and higher, finally hitting the peak. She tensed, moaning loudly, crying his name in pleasure.

“Yes, baby, say it again. Let me hear you.”

He slid in and out a few more times, begging her to say his name one more time. As soon as his name fell out in a whisper, he came. The bliss erupted from him, tensing, holding her even tighter.

They stood there against the door, breathing heavily, his head still in the crook of her neck, her head on his shoulder.

“I’m sorry about this morning. I don’t want to fight anymore.” He kissed her neck.

I don’t want to lose you.

Her grip on him strengthened. “Me either.”

He lifted his head, smiling, then pressed the first tender kiss to her lips.

She spoke before he could. “That was intense. I’ve never had sex against a door before.”

He winced, twisting his lips in a joking manner, hoping the agitation between them didn’t spring forth once again.

Her lips formed a silly grin as well. “Of course, you’ve had sex against a door before.”

He kissed her hard, aching to shout he loved her, wondering if it was the wrong time. Wondering when the right time would be. Wondering if he’d ever get the nerve to actually say the words.

“This wasn’t sex. It’s neverjustsex between us. Got that?”

She breathed heavily.

He was still deep inside her, not ready to disconnect. He pushed hard against the door, filling her even deeper. “Whatever happened in my past compares nothing to you. So I repeat, got it?”
