“I should record that. I might not hear that ever again.”

She slapped him on the ass, giggling.

“Do your thing. Whenever it is, we’ll make it work.”

“Thank you.” She kissed him. “I still think we wait until after the holidays. We can find someone to watch Amelie and visit Hope and then find a cozy cottage and get snowed in or something. Just the two of us. With nothing but time.”

“Oh, keep talking, sweetheart. I like the sound of this plan.”

He leaned in for another kiss and then backed away when the bowl clattered to the ground, the cereal spilling everywhere after Amelie pulled on it.

“Dada, more.”

Amelie stood next to them, looking at the floor. Then she plopped down and made a grab for the cereal.

“No!”

They both went into action. She picked up Amelie, and he started scooping up the cereal.

Genevieve wouldn’t change it for the world.

She made some bad choices in life. Good ones. Impulsive ones. Some really hard choices. But in the end, it brought her to this point.

A happy home filled with love and laughter. She couldn’t ask for more.
