Frank

My police car screeches to a halt, the smell of burnt rubber is thick in the air, the swirling smoke from the tires billowing from the locked-up brakes of my stopping squad car.

With the air brakes still hissing under the demand of the quick stop, the thud of my shoulder impacts the car door causing it to rattle as I push it open. All the sounds of a thirty-seven-year-old police veteran arriving on the scene like a bat out of hell mix with the blare of the siren, making it hard to hear.

"Freeze", I call out, feeling the cool metal of the gun, heavy in my hand, as I unholster it while strobe lights illuminate the open-air shopping mall. The Berrettini luxury goods store to where we were called is flooded in a kaleidoscope of red, blue, and white.

Through the broken glass in the front of the shop window I see a head whip around and I freeze, completely caught off guard. Expecting to stare down at a large man in a ski mask instead I'm greeted by a youthful woman, unmasked and trying little to hide the outward appearance of the most stunning woman I've ever seen.

Her eyes meet mine and I see a flicker of recognition before she turns to run.

I give chase, my gun held tightly in my hand. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when I catch up to her, but I know that I can't let her get away.

As I run, the sound of my feet pounding on the pavement is drowned out by the pounding of my heart in my ears. I'm not sure what's going on, but I know that I need to catch her. I see her ahead of me, her long golden hair that looks like a river of silk flows behind her as she sprints ahead of me. I pick up the pace, but I'm not sure if I can catch her.

Just as she's about to disappear around the corner, I reach out and grab her arm, pulling her to a stop.

"Hey," I say, trying to catch my breath. "I need to ask you some questions."

But the only question burning inside of me is where I know this girl from. She looks strangely familiar, but I can't place her. As I stare into baby blue eyes she flashes me a knowing wink.

Her beauty disarms me, and my entire body goes still as I take in the sight of her. There's something about her that makes me feel like I'm seeing the world in a whole new way.

This curvy blonde-haired girl is stunningly beautiful. She has a kind face with gentle features, and her eyes seem to sparkle with mischief. She has a voluptuous figure, with curves in all the right places. She's wearing an all-black catsuit that looks like she was poured into it, and her golden hair cascades down her back.

"Are you really going to arrest me...Frank?" she asks coyly. "Or should I say Officer Friday?"

"How the hell do you know who I am?" I grit out.

The girl grins and takes a step closer to me, her perfume a mix of flowers and sugar.

"I know a lot of things, Officer Friday," she says, her voice a low purr. "But I think you already know that."

I'm about to reply when I hear someone calling my name. I turn around and see my partner, John, running towards us.

"Frank, we've got a situation," he says, out of breath.

The girl gives me a sad smile and slips out of my grasp as I stand there in awe of her beauty.

"It was nice to see you again, Officer Friday," she says before turning and running away.

I watch her go, frozen stiff, and unable to do anything about it as I try to figure out where I know her from.

"What the hell, Officer? You're not going to chase her?" John asks.

"She can run all she wants, but she's never getting away. Not from me."

"What the hell are you talking about?"

A knowing smirk tugs at the corners of my mouth.

"I think I know just where to find her."
