When I parked the car, I told Rory she could open her pretty eyes. They went wide when she saw the massive mansion in front of us – twelve thousand square foot Georgian Manor House on four acres of land right on the banks of the Potomac River.
“Who lives here?” she asked.
“We do. You, me, Michael, and Anna.”
I watched her face morph into wonderment. “No fucking way.”
I leaned toward her, planting a kiss on her cheek, and open the glove compartment, pulling out a set of keys and dangled them in front of her. “Yes, way. I just signed a ton of paperwork on the house yesterday,”
When I climbed out of the car and opened the door for Rory, I pulled her into my arms then kissed her.
I kept my arms around her waist, “Brody has agreed – until I can find someone else - to manage and protect Candace, Loren, Lyla, and Tamika. Desiree is on her own and if she’s smart, she’ll stay clear of me. He’ll make the townhome in Georgetown his part-time residence. I wanted to show you the new house first, then surprise Michael and Anna with it later, after the wedding. We live only a few miles from Nolan and Gina, and since Michael loves the ocean, we’ll keep the house in Cape May too.”
Her pretty dark eyes welled up with tears. “But why?”
“Why? Because I love you, Aurora. Hell, I think I fell in love with you that first night we were together five years ago. The night you conceived my son, the most beautiful gift ever.”
Rory’s hands combed through my hair, “I love you too, Dane. And I would love to give you more children if that’s what you want.”
I felt a warmth inside I’d never felt with anyone before. I kissed Rory again, but this time more passionately. She moaned, and I pressed her against me tighter.
Before Rory ended up on the car's hood and me between her legs, I released her, then offered my hand. “Come on, let’s go inside and take a tour of our new home.”
