“FUCK!”he roared, and punched it.

Honestly, if he'd had a weapon, I was sure he’d have emptied the clip into my brand new Valentino.

He just stopped, breathing hard, his hands braced against the suitcase, and turned his head to me. “I can’t do this.”

My heart dropped.

“I can’t live like this, not knowing you’re vulnerable.” He straightened, then strode toward me. “I can’t lose you too.”

Cracks formed in my heart, shattering my resolve like fine china. All I saw was his pain, his loneliness…the void his mother had left behind. I lowered the ice from my face, wrapping my arms around him as we came together. “You’re not going to lose me,” I murmured, meeting his lips. “Never going to lose me.”

The deal was already done.

My heart, my body…my soul.

Were his.

I kissed him, touching him, and realized something that shook me to the core. My heart had only two settings, all or nothing. There was no in-between. When it came to Finley, he held it in his hands. “I love you.”

He froze, lips loving mine, stealing breath from my lungs, and slowly pulled back. “What did you just say?”

There was no stopping now, no saving my heart anymore. It was destined to be ruined by this Mafia Prince.

This First Son of a powerful Mafia family.

I tried not to think about that. Not about the implications of what that might mean.

Whatever happened between us after this moment would be up to fate.

“I love you, too, Anna.”

I sucked in a hard breath and searched his gaze. “You do?”

“Yeah. I do.”

He kissed me, reached down to grab the towel filled with ice, and pressed it to my cheek. “Now hold the damn ice to your face so I can get you the hell out of here.”

I felt giddy as he turned and grabbed my suitcase, then my laptop and phone. “Everything else can wait.”

He strode from my room, carrying my overstuffed, half-zipped suitcase with him.

We made our way through the apartment, my gaze shifting to the mess in the living room.

“Hey,” Fin called, drawing my attention. “Before we really do this…let’s just get one thing straight.”

Panic flared as I followed him to the elevator, watching as he punched the button and turned toward me. “Keep your possessive mitts off my damn dog. No funny ideas about claiming him. The pain in the ass is mine.”

He gave me a small smirk as the elevator opened.

“How did you know?” I muttered as I followed him inside.

“Because, Anna…I know a lot more about you than you might think.”

But there was no smirk now, just a steely determination. One that made me break his gaze and look away.
