“I…ah.I need to go and see Kat.” Panic flared in my head as I moved backwards.

“Now?” he groaned, and pushed up on his elbows.

“Yes, Fin, now.” I tried to stop the anger from spilling into my tone. But as hard as I tried, I couldn’t stop it. I wanted to hurt him…I wanted to hurt him like he'd hurt me.

I turned, strode barefoot to the table, and took my phone. The sheets rustled behind me as he sat up. I didn’t have time to stop and find my shoes, didn’t have time to do anything but haul ass toward the elevator.

Athudsounded as I hurried and stabbed the button for the elevator.

“Anna?” Fin growled, sounding pissed off now. “Anna, wait a second. You’re going to Kat’s now? Why, is something wrong?”

Yeah, you fucking asshole. Something is very…very wrong.“No.” I forced the words through clenched teeth. “Nothing’s wrong.”

I could hear him yanking on pants as the rumble of the elevator came close.

“Where’s the fuck is my…” he muttered, then stopped. “Anna,” he called as the doors opened.

I hurried inside and pressed the door closed button, then the one for the ground floor.

“Anna,wait!”

But there was no waiting, not anymore. Tears burned as they spilled free. I stared at the closing doors as Fin raced toward me.

“Anna!”Boom! The sound of his fist against the door made me flinch. I stepped backwards until I hit the rear wall.

But then I was gone, sinking lower and lower. I lifted my phone and started typing.

On my way. Need directions to building 0.

I waited, not really expecting an answer, but a second later, he replied.

Unknown: Follow the map.

An image followed, one similar to the one of the island. I blinked my tears away, focusing on the blur, and searched for building zero as the elevator came to a shuddering halt. The doors opened and I strode through, quickening my steps toward the foyer doors.

Thunder came from the stairwell…thunder and the roar of my name.

Finley was coming for me.

But this time it was far too late.

“You did this.” I fought the agony and raced through the doors out into the night.

44

Finley

“Anna!”I lunged and lashed out, slamming the handle of the stairwell door before charging through. But she wasn’t there…

You fucking idiot!I turned, stared at the closed elevator doors, and strode toward it, pressing the button. It opened immediately. That meant she was gone.

She was gone.

I clenched my fist around my phone and jerked my gaze to the outside door. She was out there…running, scared, pissed off…what the fuck had she seen? I pressed the button on my phone and punched in the code. The saved video was still open, playing…with Pavlov standing over her bed, watching her as she cried out my goddamn name and pleasured herself.“Shit!”

I ran a hand through my hair and tugged my boots on properly, yanking the laces before tying them tight. This was all falling apart and it was all my damn fault.Fucking idiot!I glanced at my phone once more, shutting down the damn video feed, and saw the text.

The phone tracking notification. The one that showed texts sent to her phone.
