“Fin,” he called again, louder.

I stopped, sucking in a hard breath as movement came from the bedroom.

“Just give me a fucking second, okay?” he warned.

Heat rushed to my cheeks as Kat called out, “Lazarus?”

He just glared at me. “Yeah, it’s me,” he answered her.

I waited as he passed me heading toward Kat, hating how that feeling of desperation led to coercion.

“What’s going on?” Concern filled Kat’s voice.

“It’s Fin,” Lazarus explained, keeping his voice low. “He’s worried about Anna.”

There was a sudden shift in the bed. “What about Anna?”

With a sigh that carried through the apartment, Lazarus growled. “It seems she’s gone missing.”

There was silence, then the soft padding of bare feet as Kat stepped around Lazarus in the doorway and stalked my way, her eyes sparkling with anger. “What happened?” she demanded.

For a moment, I’d forgotten who she was…all I saw was the bruised eye…and the dark circles under her eyes. But that all faded away as she came closer and grabbed my shirt. “Fin…what the fuck happened?”

I couldn’t answer her, because…I didn’t know.“She left.”

Kat stilled. “Just like that?”

I swallowed hard. “Yeah.”

“Did you…hurt her?”

Did Ihurther? The question was a punch to my gut. Did I hurt her…

Her words filled me.I…ah. I need to go and see Kat.

Now?I’d asked.

Yes, Fin, now.

She'd seen the video of Pavlov, that I knew for sure. But the tracking information was what filled me with fear. “I think she’s in trouble…and she’s about to do something fucking stupid. Something I won’t be able to fix.”

“What the fuck,” Lazarus growled, and jerked his gaze from Kat to me. “You think she’s going to talk? How much does she even fucking know about you, anyway?”

I just met the eyes of the heir of the Rossi line and answered “She knows it all.”

His dark eyes widened.

I just clenched my jaw. I couldn’t say any more, not without risking her damn life even more. Because the problem was…she couldn’t know all about the Salvatores' dealings without knowing the Rossis', the Baldeons', Valachis' and the Kilpatricks'. All five fucking seats on the damn Commission were at stake and in that moment, Lazarus knew it.

“Then you’d better hope you find her, Fin…before it’s too late.”

I left with those words resounding in my head and prayed this wasn’t over.

For the both of us.
