I stared, watching him. His steps were soundless. This guy didn’t really fucking exist…until he saw you. A shiver tore along my spine. Ineverwanted a man like Edon Ristani to see me.

But his loyalty to my father was strained. He stayed to keep my father from forcing the Commander to come back. But I knew it was only a matter of time before it blew up.

He hasn’t found it…

The words sent a surge of panic through me as I kept walking, heading to the large, darkened office at the back of the building. Other men moved around, men loyal to my father. I nodded as they passed, heading out to do whatever deed they were assigned this time.

I strode along the hallway, stepped through the open door, and closed it softly behind me. He never looked up, not at first. My father had a way of making everyone react in his own time. I turned away, refusing to play his games, and walked over to the bookcase that ran the entire length of the darkened room, stilling when a soft knock on the door came.

“Dom, honey.” A female’s voice came from the door.

I turned, watching a blonde with fake tits stride into the room. She cast me a glare, turning her thousand-watt smile on for my father.

“Baby, when you’re done with the help…” She dragged her fingers along my father’s meaty arm.

“Help?” I muttered, glaring at her.

My father smirked, narrowing his gaze in on me. “Honey, this is my son, Finley.”

She stilled, narrowed her gaze, no doubt sizing up the competition. I was sure when she looked at my father all she saw was dollar signs. Only she didn’t know what it took to get all that money.

“Your son?” She fluttered her lashes.

I wanted to fucking groan. Instead, I cut a glare toward my father, and turned. “Let me know when you’re done with your whore, then we can talk.”

“Whore? Who the fuck—”

“It’s okay, honey. I haven’t had a chance to tell Fin yet.”

I froze, a chill sweeping along my spine as I turned back.

“We’re going to be married.” The fake bitch beamed, lifting her hand to show me the massive rock on her finger.

A rock my mom wouldn’t have worn in a million years. It was ugly and gaudy and cost more than my damn car.

“You going to say something?” she asked, waving her fingers in front of me.

I glared to my father. “I saw Edon out in the hallway…I wonder if he has room on his schedule.”

My father’s smirk grew wider. “Now, now, Fin.” He glanced at her. “Honey, I’ll message you when I’m ready, okay, sweetheart?”

Sweetheart?I wanted to be sick. Instead, I looked at the photo of my mother on his desk. It was black and white, taken about five years so. My mom, beautiful, fierce, her thick braided hair draped over one shoulder, and her smile…her smile that shone even from the murky gray.

“Okay, baby.” She leaned closer, kissing my father in front of me.

If I wasn’t thoroughly pissed off before, then this sure did the fucking trick. I never looked away from him as she tottered around the desk like a fucking idiot and left the room.

The smirk stayed, the glint shining like diamonds in his eyes.

Diamonds I wanted to crush under my fucking boot.

“So what’s the game? Is this a threat?”

“Threat?” he repeated carefully. “I don’t know what you mean, Fin.”

It was a game. It was always one fucking game with him.

He thought by dragging some bitch in here and flaunting her in my face that I’d panic? Having a son at his age. He’d be an old man by the time the kid even came close to being a rival. If I let it come to that.
