“I wish I knew. We’re working on it, that’s all I can say.”

“And when you locate it, that’s only part of the issue, Fin. When can I come home? When can I see my daughter?”

I felt the guy's agony. “I don’t know, D. I wish I had something to tell you.”

“Then figure it the fuck out,” he snapped, his hard breaths a roar in my ear. “I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be. We’ll find it, we’ll negotiate a way you can get back home. I just need you…”

“To say hidden,” he answered for me.

“Right.”

“Until tomorrow,” he muttered, defeated, and ended the call.

I hung up and walked back out, past the bartender still wiping glasses and the waitress, who smiled and walked toward me.

“Hi,” She started.

But I kept going, striding across the street, ready to stab some motherfucker in the eye. The dark sedan pulled up a second before I climbed back into the Maserati. I never looked at my father’s spy, just climbed into the car and started the engine, driving off and heading for the city.

I needed to find a way out of this. Needed to keep all the balls in the goddamn air. Dillon, my father…and Anna. There was only one person who knew my pain. Lazarus Rossi.

I punched the accelerator, aiming for the freeway, my gaze moving to the rearview mirror. But there was no sign of the tail. It didn’t matter. They’d know exactly where I was going. The tracker in the car would show them the way.

Only that was all they’d know. My father wouldn’t dare put a bug in the Rossi compound. Not unless he wanted to start a war. The freeway blurred in front of me as I put miles on the odometer, speeding across the other side of the city and to the Rossi compound.

By the time I slowed and pulled into their street, it was almost midday. I slowed, then drove the sports car into the darkened alley next to the nightclub. The place was always on, always alive. Dark, seedy music invaded the alley, reaching my ears as I climbed out of the car, locked it, and made for the closed door.

“Fin.”

I glanced toward the voice, slowing as the Rossi protector stepped out of the shadows. “Logan, he in?”

The bodyguard just smiled. “Brother, he’s always in, except when he’s out.”

I laughed hard at this. Lazarus was the most hot-headed asshole God ever put breath in. The guy was on, all the damn time. Only I thought now with the baby he’d be a little moremellow. But he wasn’t.

If anything, he was even more savage, protecting a child who was his by name only. Kat had come to the island with a secret. One she'd kept hidden…One we never expected would turn into something like this.

“Later,” I muttered to the bodyguard, waiting for him to nod before I headed to the door and stepped inside.

Heads snapped toward me as I entered, and it took me a moment to adjust my stride, meeting each gaze. Then to realize they still didn’t trust me. That they didn’t know the camaraderie we’d formed in those hallow nights fighting to find the woman Lazarus loved.

When they'd taken Kat captive, he was a wounded animal caught in a trap. I was there, searching alongside him. I was there in those dark moments when he thought all hope had been lost. Which was the only reason I was here now.

The Stidda Prince was no longer my rival. He was my friend, my ally.

“Asshole.” The growl came from behind me.

I winced at the crassness and glanced his way. I wasn’t the only one who’d hardened since coming back. Lazarus was more toned than ever and intimidating as fuck.

“Prick,” I answered back.

He gave a jerk of his head, and I followed him to the back, glancing around the darkened room. There was once a time this was a place for the dancers to hang out. Where Laz didn’t flinch at the sight of tits and pussy on display. But as I stepped through, he closed the door, shutting the sound of the music and the club out. He breathed a sigh of relief.

“Goddamn that shit, gets on my nerves,” he muttered, grabbing a bottle of water from the refrigerator. “Water?” he offered.

I shook my head. “No, thanks. Sounds like you need a new place, Rossi.”
