“See?”Fin snapped. “You forced my goddamn hand when you went after Anna. You fucking brought this on yourself!”

“I neededyouto see you were ready.” He stared at me, then Lazarus and Edon. “I always knew you were.”

“Ready?” Fin repeated.

“To take the seat. It’s what you came for, isn’t it?”

Fin just scowled, his gun wavering, aimed at his father, before he paled. He looked at me, licked his lips, then turned back. “You’ll move aside?”

“Will you give me a choice?”

“No.” The answer was simple. He wouldn’t, not when there was too much on the line.

My life.

My father’s life.

There was no way Fin would play with that.

“Then you have your answer,” Dominic murmured, a hint of a smile cresting his lips. He fuckingwanted this all along. “Mr. Salvatore.”

Mr. Salvatore.

The way he said it, he played into Fin’s ego. Was this a setup from the beginning? I glanced at the screen and the IP address, the same address Fin had triggered when sending documents from his father’s house to me at the Facility.

“The Facility?” I murmured.

Dominic looked at me like I was nothing more than a speck on his shoe. “That’s up to the head of the Salvatore line. I’m out…I’m retiring.”

“You’re retiring?” I didn’t believe it.

His gaze was cold and unflinching. “I’ll expect my money to continue. But if Finley wants to take over the seat on the Commission, and it looks to me like he has, then I’ll concede.”

He’ll concede…

I looked to Fin. Could it really be this easy? I glanced at Arnold Smutter’s still body. Now it all made sense. He'd brought Max’s brother here with the sole purpose of triggering this entire catalyst.

He wanted Fin to step up…and he used me to do it.

“You fucking bastard.” I met his ruthless gaze, finding the corner of his lips curling at the edges.

“Welcome to the family, Anna,” he took a step, reaching up to pat Finley on the shoulder like he was proud. “It’s nice to see you’re a good influence on my son.”

Then he left, just strolled past Lazarus and Edon like he’d finished what he’d come here to do, leaving us all to stare at each other with the resounding thud of Dominic Salvatore’s steps.

Finley Salvatore wasn’t just my husband…

he was ruthless, a hunter and now the head of the Salvatore Mafia…

still he wanted more.
