The heat was building, lashing against the edges as he licked and sucked, dragging my swollen nub into his mouth.Fuck me.My hips bucked as that fire moved through me, making me twitch and writhe against his mouth. His fingers slid along me, the tips of two slid inside. “Fuck me, you’re perfect.”

“Fin,”came a low growl from outside the door.

But there was no stopping this. I opened wider as his fingers slid deeper. “Turn your fucking head, Max,” he commanded with chilling savagery. “Or I’ll put a bullet in it.”

The heat was rising once more, making me groan and quiver around his fingers.

“I want to be here,” he growled, slipping them in deeper. “Right here.”

“Fin, there’s a problem,” his bodyguard insisted from outside.

But I was already jerking my hips into the air as I arched my spine, already seeing stars as they ignited. A tremor rippled through me, coursing up the center of me as he slipped his fingers along my crease and slowly pulled away.

“I told you before, Anna. You belong to me,” he whispered and adjusted my panties. Harsh breaths consumed me as he rose from the floor in one swift move. “Now it’s time to prove it.”

In the space of a breath, he was gone, turning toward the door and leaving me behind. I waited for a second, listening to his footsteps before I rose.

Shell-shocked and numb, I rose to stand on trembling legs. My body didn’t move right, warm and fluid as I made my way out of the armory and along the hall.

“Anna!”Kat called my name as I came out of the building, following the path. “What the hell happened?”

I couldn’t speak, couldn’t find the words. My body and mind were at war. Hating him and wanting him, at the same time. But in the crisp night air, clarity found me.

Dad…Dad was coming for me.The words were a cold shock to my system. Had that really just happened?

“It’s okay, Kat. I’m leaving.”

“Leaving?” She stopped walking beside me and fell behind. “What the fuck do you mean, leaving?”

I was too tired to explain and too numb to think anymore. Instead, I just kept on walking, desperate to find my way back to my room and get to the dock.

“You can’t leave.”

“Can and will,” I answered. “I’m not meant for this place.”

“Thefuckyou’re not.” She caught up and matched me with long, angry strides. “If you’re not, then who the hell is?”

I shook my head. “You don’t know me, Kat.”

“No, I don’t. But I was starting to, at least.” She threw her arms wide. “What are you so fucking afraid of?”

“Afraid? Don’t you even know?”

We’re afraid of all of you…of the Salvatores and the Rossis and the goddamn war that’s just waiting to happen.

Blood money.

That’s what we dealt in.

Money to be layered and hidden until the government can't tell which is legit…and which is dirty.

Tell her…tell her who you really are.

“I can’t do this…” I forced through clenched teeth. “I can’t keep lying and hiding. I can’t keep being afraid.”

“Then don’t.” She took a step closer, her hand so fucking gentle on my arm. I shivered from the contact as she assured me in a murmur, “You can trust me, Anna.”

Trust.
