The sound of my name was a kick in the center of my chest. I jerked my gaze to her…and waited. But there was no lift of her head. No words ofwhat the fuck are you doing in my room? But if there was? What would I do? Would I tell her my truth and demand the same from her?

What the fuck are you doing here, Anna?

Tell me. Now.Before it’s too late…

But she didn't wake, just settled once more, one hand reaching across the bed as though she wassearching for me?

“Fin…please.”

My heart hammered with the sound of my name on her lips. That fucking ache sank fangs into my heart. I tore my gaze from the faint outline of her body, bent, and grabbed her phone before making my way out of her room without a sound.

I pressed the button, illuminating the screen, and punched in her old code,Salvatoresucks.

What do you know…she hadn’t changed it.

Maybe Salvatore had sucked before, but now we were downright ruthless.

Her messages were illuminated. My gaze gravitated to my own name second from the top. I fought that need to consume her entire life. To unearth every fucking secret—to expose her lies.

But that sickening need wasn’t for my father. No. In this moment, I wanted to know her formyself.

I lifted my gaze and turned my head in the doorway as the dangerous part of me took hold. Jealousy ripped through me like a damn drug. My hand shook, clutching her phone. She shouldn’t be here. She should be at home, waiting there…secret…safe.

But she wasn’t.

She was here.

That dangerous part of me danced with rage.

Forcing me to do this.

I jerked with the hunger. My hands trembled once more, but this time with rage. I pressed the top text open, theunknownnumber glaring like a neon fucking sign, and read the first message from that number.

I need to call.

Tomorrow night at 11. The small alcove on the north side of the island.

An image sat underneath. A map of the island, one I’d seen before, with an X on the isolated side of the island. I dragged my own phone from my pocket and took aim, the flash of the camera blinding in the dark. I didn’t even care if she woke anymore. In fact, some part of me wished she would. That part of me would shove this into her face and demand the fucking truth.

It was just another betrayal.

Just one more person pushing me…always pushing me.

Mom.

Dad.

The fucking Commission.

And now Anna. The one person I'd thought was perfect. The one person I'd wanted to be perfect for me.

But she didn't wake, just continued with that low hiss of her breath. I strode back into her room, forcing myself not to look at her, and placed her phone beside her bed once more.

Just remember…you did this.

I threw the words into the emptiness and left, making my way past her lonely fucking glass on the counter, and strode into the elevator. I closed my eyes as I sank down to the foyer. There was no going back now…not after what I’d just done.

She’d never have anything to do with me, not after tonight.
