Heading back to the apartment now. Will message when it’s clear.

My gut clenched, and my excitement died. That message meant only one thing…and it wasn’t good.

Max strode ahead and leaned into the scanner as I neared the foyer doors. His gaze was careful as it met mine. “Everything okay?”

“Fine.” I just glanced from him to Pavlov, then stepped inside the elevator as it opened.

I lifted my gaze to my bodyguard as the doors closed. He’d never outright asked like that before, neveroverstepped. But here he was, treading the fine goddamn line. The feeling didn’t sit well as I rode to my apartment and grabbed my phone.

I’m here.

The phone rang a second later and my father’s biting growl cut through the speaker. “The fucking launderer. I want to know where the hell he is.”

I swallowed hard, my mind racing. “I thought you had men tracking him down?”

“That’snotwhat I fucking asked for, is it? The location…now.”

But I didn’t know the location. He’d slipped from Pavlov the moment he hit the mainland, sinking into the shadows, and hadn’t surfaced yet. “I’ll get some men on it.”

A howl of agony in the background filled the handset. My grip clenched around the phone. “Is everything okay?”Dad.The word lodged in my throat.

“Five fucking million,” my father growled, as behind him the screams of agony turned into words.

“I don’t know where the fuck he is!”The howl of terror bled through the phone from behind him.“I’m telling the truth! Please believe me…I’m telling the truth.”

Muffled sobs came after, low, sickening sounds. You’d think after all this time I’d have gotten used to them.

Thwack.

The sharp sound ended the cries.

There was only silence now. Chilling, foreboding silence that made my blood run cold.

“Five million,” my father repeated coldly. “He has one hundred million of my money, and you think I’m okay with getting five?”

I didn’t know what to say.

“I’m giving you five days, Finley…then I’ll be taking matters into my own hands.”

Harsh breaths did nothing to quell the pounding of my heart.

“What does that mean?” I asked.

But the line was already dead, my screen blank.

Still the chilling sound of a dead man’s screams rang in my head. I lifted my gaze to the window. I needed her father…that meant I needed her.

Five days. That’s all I had. Five days, then my father would descend on this island like a storm. One none of us would survive. I closed my eyes, still feeling the grind of her pussy against my mouth. The taste of her lingered, that ache a beast of its own.

I didn’t have a minute to lose.

Not anymore.

I turned and stepped into the elevator once more, making my way downstairs. Max and Pavlov were still waiting in the foyer. Both men lifted their heads as I neared. “I’m heading to Building One. I don’t need you for this.”

“I don’t think—” Max started, shaking his head.

“You don’t think?” I repeated.
