"W-W-William! I-I just wanted to present you with these flowers and thank you for all you've done! I know you're not leaving yet but I'm sure you'll be bombarded with gifts by then. Thank you for your service!" She bowed and offered me the bouquet.

I accepted it with ease while giving her a dazzling smile.

"I'm grateful that my contribution to this organization has been acknowledged. These are outstanding and match my taste," I praised as I admired the black, purple, and pink combo.

"Viktor? Can you put these in the office?"

"Certainly," he replied and took them out of my hands before going back to the other elevator.

"T-Thank you so much! This is the best day ever!" she squealed as the elevator arrived. Myself, Jayce, and Neo turned to enter but my eyes landed on a man in all black and the ticking digital clock that was on its last five seconds.

"A warning from Germany," the man declared as tears ran down his cheeks.

"BOMB!" Jayce screamed. I moved to push the woman as far as my strength would allow. Her body flew back as she screamed, while others were running away as fast as their legs would allow.

I spun around, but the clock was already at zero and the burst of heat that followed pushed me off my feet as I shot my hands out and my magic flowed as fast as it could to try and contain the blast.

Someone crashed into me, the two of us flying back before crashing and skidding across the tiled floor until it felt like my body was flying out through a window. Something caught my arm as I was hanging right out, cries of mayhem coming from below as sirens from fire trucks and police were already surging to life and getting louder by the second.

My head was pounding, and I felt beyond disorientated, but my priority was getting back onto flat surface as I looked up to see Neo was holding me. His shades were gone, his eyes wide with determination.

I stared into those hollow dark orbs while spinning circles of red pulsed with magic while a stream of blood was beginning to make its way down the side of his head.

The memories rushed back to me: the night when I raced into the forest to get away from the pack and my full-on encounter with Neo, who I'd originally thought was my enemy.

He tugged me upward, letting out a grunt before he growled and pulled me right up and onto the platform. I shifted back to my female form a second later, my long hair draping around me as I was on my hands and knees.

Lifting my head up, I took in the damage as Neo caught his breath. Jayce was directing orders to multiple people as police and security entered from one stairwell. A good samaritan was directing the staff down to the bottom floor with the other emergency exit.

I looked around to see the damage to the floor, surprised the blast hadn't destroyed the beams of the building. My eyes noticed the woman who'd given me flowers - someone was conducting CPR on her chest, but I could tell she was already gone by her opened eyes and the blood that cloaked her lips. A giant silver pole that was a part of one of the metal boards near the elevator was projecting out of her stomach.

I had no time to feel pity as I caught onto the white-caped man who was pointing a gun in Neo's direction. He didn't sense it fast enough, and I scrambled up, shielding him before the bullet was released.

I was jerked to one side, the bullet grazing my side as Neo's arms went around me and a second man ran from behind the white-cloaked man, about to shoot a solid round of bullets from an AR-15 while his friend jetted into another emergency exit.

We braced for impact when the man looked up and screamed as his body was crushed by a large white wolf that slammed into him and began to devour him like he was dinner.

I knew right away it was Viktor, and I fought to get up, but I suddenly fell right back.

"Willow!" Neo caught me, but I felt suddenly queasy, enough to make me groan. "Fuck. Jayce! Get Saint up here now!"

Their voices were fading away, and I heard Viktor calling me, but I was slipping away fast, which suddenly frightened me. I was panicking, or at least it felt that way, which made me want Onyx all of sudden.

Words were being spoken, the sirens grew louder, and I was being carried somewhere. I was fighting hard to remain awake, to not succumb to this like a weakling, but I was positive that I was losing the battle.

I fought for the light as the claws of darkness were desperate to bring me under, and it felt as though I was now drowning, and death was merely waiting for me.

"She's having a panic attack."

"Or a seizure?"

"Where's Willow?"

"Here!"

It was the third voice that grasped my attention for a second, and suddenly that wood cologne scent was engulfing me, and my body began to calm almost immediately. The relaxation only promoted further exhaustion, but now I wasn’t frightened.

"Good girl, Willow. I'm right here. You're safe." Those words were a security blanket, the relief bringing clarity as I absorbed the truth that I was safe. I wasn't going to die. I’d avoided death once more.
