"When the person who ordered the illusionist to do what he did is hiding in Dubai like a fucking coward, the anger grows stronger until it’s the energy coursing through your blood and fueling you to destroy every enemy that comes your way."

"Then why haven't you killed me?"

The way he smirked almost frightened me as he turned around and walked right up to me. Lifting my chin, he looked into my eyes with fierceness as he whispered, "On the outside, you are our enemy, Willow, but our original plan to make you despise us seemed to change. Wonder why?"

He let go and lifted his gaze to my hair. "Turn around."

I did what he asked simply because I didn't sense any danger with the command. When my back was facing him, he gathered my hair so gently I was surprised it was him. I expected him to ask for a hair tie, but he tied my hair a certain way until he muttered, "Finished."

I decided to walk over to the mirror, and I observed the pink bun hairstyle with a ribbon that shifted from black to purple with pink Japanese characters. I made a bit of it out and looked back at him as he was already heading to the door.

"It says ‘Forbidden Fruit’," I translated.

Jayce stopped at the door. "That's what we are. Forbidden fruit in a pack that very few survive being a part of." He looked over his shoulder once more, and his eyes were vivid blue again. "Now the ball is in your court, Willow. Will you rise to the challenge of survival, or wither until you're rotten and easy to dispose of?"

He opened the door and left me with that question.

Returning my gaze to the mirror, I admired the thick ribbon, from the material to the beautiful characters. This had to be made specifically for me, which made me wonder when he’d gotten it done.

Does this mean they're observing to see if I'm worthy to be a part of their pack?

Proving my loyalty would take time, especially when I wasn't like them, but maybe this meant I had a chance.

A chance to be forbidden fruit in their pack of lethal apples.

I was merely sprouting, but it'd only be a matter of time before I was a red apple hanging from its branch and waiting to be picked for the purpose of plaguing anyone who defied the words of our pack.

Who tries to disobey the words of the Forbidden pack?

Stretching out for the sake of not being scolded by Viktor for not doing so, I gave myself a nod before I headed to the door.

Opening it up, I found myself face-to-face with a muscled chest with beads of sweat and a few scratches. It didn't take me even a second to realize it was Onyx, and I lifted my head up to see the silver orbs that looked down at me.

I fought the urge to freeze in place -and fear -standing boldly as I acknowledged him with my eyes. He continued to stare down at me before his finger lifted my chin further up and he smoothly kissed me with his rough, bloody lips.

That possessiveness of his should be a disease, and yet it only gave me strength as this kiss offered me bits of comfort and support. His wolf hated showing emotion, ever since that time when he lost control and did what he did.

Even after all these years, I didn't blame him.

I blame myself for allowing it. For not being strong enough to fight against him. For settling for being a weak individual rather than training my ass off to do better. To be better than anyone who dared try and take me down and do what I didn't consent to.

He released my lips and I stared at him with my emotionless eyes. He didn't say a word as he let go and walked down the hall, turning left, which would lead to the male locker room.

I walked out into the hall, the door locking back into place as I slowly lifted my fingers to press them against my tender lips.

Possessive lover.

I was breathing heavilyas my feet shuffled to keep me moving, my eyes locked on the man with orange eyes, his creepy smile only irritating me. This fight had gone too long, and I was beginning to feel the effects of it.

The crowd was cheering like madness, desperate to see if I'd succumb to this new guy. I normally didn't participate in the neutral gender category, but the schedule was swapped due to some special guests in the crowd who were from another country.

As if that wasn’t enough to tell me that something fishy was going on, his odd appearance and confidence told me he was about to cheat. I'd done enough of these fights to sense it ahead of time, but would his move get caught or dismissed until after the fight?

Neo and Jayce were in the crowd, watching me like the rest of the crowd that was buzzing in anticipation. They wanted to see blood. To see me fail as always. Only a few seemed to support me tonight, and it tore me apart when it came to their lack of loyalty.

I was used to it by now. Years of thinking people would remain on the supporting side when a new, stronger looking opponent enters the ring. Their loyalty was as weak as glass. Put enough pressure upon its surface and it'd crack and shatter, leaving pieces of brokenness behind.

You lose your trust in them..
