There was a long silence and all I could do was quietly chuckle, which only encouraged the silence until our captive was groaning into consciousness once more.

"Showtime," I announced as I straightened myself on the wheeled stool and turned around as our captive lifted his head and blinked out of his confusion to glare in my direction.

"Fuckers. End my misery already!" he snapped. "If I could get a good look of your damn faces, I'd share it with our Alpha and he'd come right after you!"

"Oh?" I looked at Dimitris, who seemed to get what I was thinking about. His grin that followed gave me the approval I needed to switch up my plans just a bit.

"Saint," I encouraged, and he waltzed over to the man, his hands hovering over the fucker's face. A soft light of white began to hover around his hands until the man was suddenly blinking his eyes furiously and gasping as if a true miracle had occurred.

"I can see?!" He looked bewildered almost, which was only amusing because of the fact that he’d only lost his vision for a few short hours. He acted as if he’d been plagued with years of darkness, which only ticked at a nerve in my brain.

Slow and steady.

Saint was already back in the corner with Jayce and Onyx. The three of them observed what was about to occur while Dimitris and I were taking the lead in this interrogation.

"Now that you can see, why don't you connect us to your Alpha?" Dimitris questioned.

"Gladly!" he snapped as if it were his honor to try and rat us out to his Alpha.

I could see the glow around his body grow as he concentrated, while his eyes suddenly shifted from the orange energy to a coursing gold that told me his wolf was trying to connect through the pack bond.

It seemed he was struggling, and he grunted and muttered, "Why the fuck is he ignoring me?!"

"Good question," Dimitris replied, and then he made a video call. When the line connected, he moved to the side to stand in the middle between me and this cheater, presenting his phone like it held the key to this man's life purpose.

I already saw the sparks of joy coming from the corner with our pack members and I could only assume the person on his cellphone was a valuable source of mayhem.

"B-Boss! What the fuck, man? Why are you ignoring me? Why are you on his phone?!" he demanded.

"Ranger," the voice of the elder man acknowledged him before he continued. "It seems there was a misunderstanding."

"W-What? What misunderstanding?! You sent me all the way here to track the girl who was sold to you by that dick! You told me to rough her up!"

"At which you failed," he cut to the chase, which made my lips curl upward because I knew where this was going.

"You said she was a human, yet she had some inhuman powers like a damn wolf with magic and shit. You didn't prepare me for this!"

"You're an assassin. It's your job to be prepared," he countered and moved along. "There was a miscommunication. The girl already signed a contract and Roberto lied. You know what that means."

"H-How is that my fault?! When did you find this out?! Why wasn't I informed?!" he demanded as if he had a right.

"I was informed as of fifteen minutes ago, and as to why you weren't informed, you're not a part of our pack anymore."

"W-What?" he stuttered in horror. "Since when?! You're the fuckers who kidnapped me and forced me into this shit. Now when push comes to shove, you're screwing me over?! I've been loyal to you for twenty years!"

"And your loyalty was appreciated," he declared. Suddenly, Ranger began screaming like crazy, which confirmed what I already expected.

His Alpha is cutting off the threads of their wolf bond.

Ranger was panting like mad when it was done, and the elderly man finished up with, "You've been of good service, Ranger. Know that your sacrifice is acknowledged and the new connection we've created with the Forbidden Pack is thanks to you. Seeing as Roberto screwed us over, it's nice to be in connection with the pack that's seeking to reveal of his secrets. We also got double our investment back thanks to your little rodeo in the ring. Something told me betting on the girl would be beneficial."

That left Ranger speechless and there was a long sigh. "Your face tells me you feel betrayed, but remember. This is only business. Transactions like these come with a price. Hopefully, such advice will aid you on your next journey into the world. That is, if Mother Moon grants you mercy. Farwell, Ranger. Thank you, Mr. Moore, for the final opportunity."

"You're more than welcome," Dimitris replied. "We'll discuss the details of our new business relationship on another day."

"Excellent." They exchanged their goodbyes before Dimitris hung up and slipped his phone into his pocket. He walked over to the other side of the room and leaned against the wall next to Saint.

"With that all cleared up, do you have anything to say, Ranger?" he inquired.
