Dimitris was off the phone, pacing while his fingers furiously slammed the screen as he texted. The poor screen would be broken in a few short moments at this rate, but I didn’t dare try to interrupt his focus.

Trying to text Willow, as if she were superwoman and could breathe underwater, I was shocked when a picture came right through, showing her underwater.

"Fuck! Guys, she's alive!"

That seemed to jolt everyone to come over to where I was standing, and I connected my phone to a split-screen with the news on the TV screen, so they could get a better glimpse of the picture.

Fuck.

Our Wilting Flower was an underwater mess of gashes and scratches, with a big, swollen bump on the left side of her head that was already purplish black. Blood was oozing out of the wound, and her skin was a sickly pale accented by the ocean waters, but she was alive.

Her eyes showed her fear, which told me she was running out of air. Those teal turquoise eyes that flickered with fierceness were far from that now. Her pink locks were long, obviously confirming she’d switched to her female form when she’d surely been a male prior to the catastrophe.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck!" Onyx was cursing like a madman before he had his phone out and was calling someone.

"What?" I asked. He was pacing even faster than Dimitris was. He didn't answer me as the other line seemed to pick up.

"Willow's in danger. Brooklyn Bridge. She's in the water. There's no way she'll be able to make it to the surface. I can’t get there on time."

There was mumbling on the other side before he paused in his pacing and the tension in his shoulders released just slightly.

"You'll make it?" he questioned. "Alright."

He hung up and a ding sound came from Dimitris’s phone, which had all of our attention because his phone was normally on silent -even now -unless he put a specific person to have an alert appointed to their name.

"If I run out of life, fuck you guys," Dimitris huffed, and I swore he was going to break the damn phone any second. Neo somehow thought ahead of all of us, and he stood next to Dimitris, taking the phone from his hand and concentrating on the screen.

I sensed the shift of magic in the air as another bing sound was followed by silence once more while Neo decided to read it.

"I'm sorry I couldn't be what I've always wished to be. Thanks for the glimpse of acceptance. Tell Onyx I actually love the fucker. Aurelia is my bestie bitch even in death. Viktor needs to get a girlfriend...and I wish I’d gotten to know the rest of you better."

When my wolf howled in the depths of my mind, I wasn’t alone. It felt as though all five of our wolves were howling in unison, the last sentence hitting us the hardest.

I wish I’d gotten to know the rest of you better...

She wished to know us. Know the Forbidden Pack that struck fear in the hearts and souls of shifters and humans alike in California. We were feared. Plagued to bring death to every door we visited. We weren't the paranormal mafia that many used to call us before things got darker.

We were the reapers of life and no one was bold enough to enter our lives.

Yet Willow wasn't afraid of us in the slightest. She defied our offer, somehow managed to fight against all of us, placed her bloody fingerprint on the pack contract she was never supposed to be part of, and now she had the ability to make my wolf cry out in agony?

My heart clenched and I felt the stinging in my eyes, but suddenly pushed it all away. I buried the emotions that tried to remind me of my past. Remind me of my own losses that left me to be a burden on the church that did nothing but abuse me.

Dimitris and the others were my saving grace. They prevented me from taking my own life after years of abuse, lies, and mental torment. I wouldn't open that can of worms now, and I could see the others were doing the same.

Locking away the emotions that made us human. Remembering who we were. Why we'd decided to create this pack and live this dark life that came with sacrifices.

Only, Willow wasn't supposed to be one of them.

Jayce was the first to move back to the island, only to frown and suddenly curse as his fingers went wild upon the keyboard.

"What?" Dimitris practically growled, and I could tell from the way his eye was twitching that he was struggling to keep it together. Poor guy is our Alpha. He was feeling all of our emotions, including Onyx's, who he wasn't used to yet.

“There was a submarine in the ocean waters and divers in the water.”

"That wasn't ordered by us," I stated it like it was a true fact. Even if an investigation team was on the way, there was no way divers would be going out of a submarine. They were working from below because they didn't want to be caught.

Dimitris was on his phone again, talking to someone in Japanese. Situations like this called for the big guns if you wanted to get things done swiftly, and I knew if Dimitris was calling someone who spoke Japanese, it meant he was ready to spill some major blood.
