"WILLOW!" The growling shout was unexpected as my eyes lowered to see Roberto's wide eyes. For the first time in my life, I saw fear there. Actual fear that I was about to die, all while he used the name I was sure he struggled to even allow to leave his lips.

Viktor was frozen in shock, his eyes wide as he still tried to run forward and save me.

My poor guard.

He never told me what I'd have to pay to get those damn pictures, but now it seemed rather useless because I was about to die.

I noticed the sudden surge of magic that moved down the hall in such a swift movement, and the world slowed once again. The chandelier was seconds from landing upon me, but a blurred image moved past the guards, Roberto, and even Viktor - the figure almost like it was on fire as red, orange, and gold flickered through their path that brought a heap of heat.

They were a blurred person in seconds, and then they were a massive beast that crashed into me. I was sent flying back until I was literally falling out the window. The beast came right after me, running down the windows of the building, as I continued to fall. I caught onto the shattering sounds and echoing screams of my name.

Falling from a tall-ass enterprise building was definitely one of those scary-as-fuck moments that made your life flash before your eyes. I forced myself to focus, knowing I still had a chance to survive as I flipped my body so my back wasn't facing my impending doom.

Watching the ground get closer and closer triggered my fear, but I pushed it all away as I noticed the beast was running swiftly to try to catch up to my falling body.

I bit my lip as hard as I could, the pain suddenly triggering a sudden response in my body that made my blood boil in fury, and the resistance that kept me caged withered enough to give me a sudden boost as a giggle escaped me.

"Time for me to have some fun," I sang, which sounded totally weird when I was seconds from being a flat pancake. Spreading my arms out, a trickle of magic fluttered to my aid, and my speed seemed to slow as the wind picked up to push me closer to the building, leaving me just above the flaming beast.

I was able to grasp her body in time as she surged from the glass and moved so swiftly, all I could do was hug her body tightly as my eyes shut closed. When I felt her rollercoaster speed slow to a stop, I opened my eyes to take in the familiar entrance of the underground tunnel that led to the forest that Neo and I had taken the other day.

We were exactly at the spot, and I let go and landed on my legs, which collapsed a second later, leaving me to crash onto my hands and knees. I didn’t have a moment's grace to breathe before I was vomiting like mad, enough to leave my world spinning as I tried to get it together.

I struggled to get up but I only fell over. Hands suddenly caught me.

"Easy there, sis."

It was clear this person, who I realized was a woman, had caught me, and I opened my eyes to see the blazing red hair that shifted to blonde with orange highlights and her golden eyes that dimmed to a hazelnut brown.

"I can’t stay here much longer or Mom is gonna kill me," she admitted.

"W...what?" I croaked as she helped me to a tree and lowered me to rest against the base.

"I said too much," she announced and rose up to give me a quick look over. "I'd help you out but it looks like two of your lovers are almost here," she announced. "Glad Mama got notified with the plan or you would be a dead Alpha."

"Al...pha?" She wasn’t making sense. "Mom?"

She looked at me with a bit of pity. "You'll understand soon enough, older sis." She winked, and I watched her blazing hair suddenly turn completely white.

My eyes widened drastically, noticing the similarities in our appearances aside from her hazelnut eyes that were gleaming with mischief.

"I'm about to start a war, but I guess it's about time you figure things out, especially if you're going to enter the world of our kind."

She turned around and stretched her arms.

"The clothes you left last time are just above you in the tree. They’ll heighten your scent so your mates find you."

What in the bloody hell is she talking about? Why isn't she making sense to me?

"Time, sis, time," she hummed. "My name is Ruby Phoenix. I suggest you look into your roots more. Someone wants to kill you on purpose. The clock is ticking until the true power is unleashed. They'll surely try something else, but I won't be there to aid ya this time."

She looked over her shoulder, and my weak eyes locked onto hers as those white strands shifted back to their original blazing form.

"When you feel a sense of abandonment, find who brought you into this world. There will be the truth you seek, and that will unlock what you wholeheartedly desire."

Just like that, she was gone, leaving me drained as I lifted my head up to see my attire fluttering on the branch I'd left it on.

How...did...
